How can I block access to certain websites in internet explorer?

My dad keeps asking to go on the internet and everytime I come in he's sitting in my room looking at the same stuff.

This is my computer and as a result I'm going to have to start blocking google and that shit thin lizzy tribute bands website. Without these I know for a fact that he'll be lost and I'll make up a load of mumbo jumbo to convince him that it's some kind of problem at their end. :)

Any ideas how to go about this?

Yes this is morally right, no I won't PM scotty1120.

    Thanks.

Yes but if I shut down the "black rose" website his whole love of the internet will crumble down around it.

Without google he won't be able to find anything else to look at.

There's only room for one msn head in this house.

    search for the "hosts" file

    i think its in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\

add whatever website u want to block and point it to 127.0.0.1

    example:

    127.0.0.1 www.nufc.com

then save it. this will block access to that horrid site!

    hmm they shouldnt.

search for *host* using windows search...make sure u dont have more than one.

also try going into command prompt and typing:

    ipconfig /flushdns

to make sure u dont have them cached.

Maybe I should become a Lost internet detective and have the numbers in my custom title.

    Yeah, that's what I'll do.

    Me. ;)

Plus a very giving board payment every week means that he' s not allowed on the pc more than once a week. Or if I'm out.

I agree on your last point though.

So will banning the sites via a local host not work?

Hows about settin up the other machine to go to a proxy that doesn't exist?

No it isn't. I don't want my dad in my bedroom trying and failing to use the computer and asking me for help every two minutes. Plus he has proven to be a nosey cunt in the past and it's in my best interests that he doesn't spend any time in my bedroom.

Chandler - what other machine, there isn't one.
