Houllier Leaves Liverpool http://www.skysports.com/skysports/article/0,,1-1136601,00.html they must have someone lined up for the job!
one site reckons "Charlton boss Alan Curbishley and Rafael Benitez of Valencia are the favourites " what about o'neil? or mclaren or pleat?
i think he could be tempted, although i think he would probs like to stay at celtic for 1 more season
O'Neill will stay at the moment. Celtic are the bigger better club at the moment, the only teams he would leave for is Man U or Arsenal and maybe Chelsea but cant see it as their probably a bit flash for him
Houllier has been a victim of the media's and, to a lesser extent, the fans expectations of Liverpool FC. Lets take a look at his record since being at Liverpool: 2 League Cups, 1 FA Cup, 1 UEFA Cup, 1 Charity Shield, 1 European Super Cup, 3 Qualifications for the Champions League, One Premiership runners up place. They were two minutes from a semi final in the Champions League two years ago! All this in 6 years. If a manager at ANY other English club (apart from Arsenal and Man Utd and Chelsea, but only because of Abramovich) had the same record over the past 6 years they would be hailed as a God. If Sir Bobby had this record he would be forever hailed as Newcastle Uniteds greatest ever manager.
Houllier started very well but has dropped of lately. The biggest fault has been the teams style fo play. They where awful to watch. Its one of those situations where he has to go but has gone with respect.
Agreed. He didn't really build on the success of 2001 or runner up finish in 2002. His purchases became erratic and, I feel unnecessary i.e. Diao, Diouf. His best buys were undoubtably Hyppia and Hamann. It was time for him to stand aside. God bless and thanks for the memories. :worship:
