Full Details After taking a month off to host the Green Festival Dance Stage, we return to The Other Rooms introducing one of the finest producers around and a true pioneer of UK techno, electro and electronica, Si Begg. Born in Leicester in 1972, Si spent his school years messing around with reel-to-reels, radios, guitars and drum kits in his parents basement. After a few years in bands Si put down the guitar and switched to the electronic side of music after listening to Chicago acid on John Peel's radio show. Si was recording professionally in 1993 and now runs 2 labels, Mosquito alongside Christian Vogel and his own Noodles Discotheque imprint, the latter known as 'The stupidest recording organisation in the world' for releasing records containing whole sides of random samples and songs mashed together. Si also records as Cabbage Boy, S.I. Futures and Buckfunk 3000 and has had releases on many other labels including Tresor, Eukahouse and NovaMute, as well as a massive list of remixes for artists such as DJ Rush, Lamb, Bolz Bolz, Alloy Mental and Arthur Baker amongst others. Si also performs live and has DJ’ed for many years in the UK and worldwide playing at some of the worlds most renowned clubs including Fabric in London, Tresor in Berlin and Liquid Rooms in Tokyo. This will be his debut in Newcastle, DJing for 2 hours with support from Hooked residents Chris Littlewood and Andy Gordon. Class night! Cheers to everyone who came down. The Funktion 1 in there was sounding sweet as fuck Glad of the balcony coz it was stupid hot, and would have been ridiculous if it hadn't been there. Si Begg's set was pretty mental, but that's what we expected! All being well, if it recorded ok, we should have it up on the site fairly soon for download. Next up we're back at The Other Rooms for Christian Smith on the 18th August!
