I hope he takes the england job and we get oneil instead actually id be happy no fucking ecstatic with eirther of them actually !
didnt hiddink just say definite no to the england post though so it could be possible...yet unlikely he would take it
O'neill would be a class appointment. He'd soon clean out that squad and have em flying high again!! Hope so.
O'Neill is over-rated imo. He hasn't really achieved that much as a manager. Wycombe, Leicester and Celtic is hardly the CV of a top manager.
Getting promoted with wycombe . taking leicter from obscurity to there first trophy in years and getting to two european fianals with celtic (il not include the spl or cis cups they dont count ) The fact that man u wanted him before any other coach when fergie was due to go . England want him .... erm the guy isnt overated hes a damn good manager .
His managerial successes are pretty weak, getting promoted at a lower standard of football, winning the league cup with Leicester and losing in the UEFA cup final with Celtic hardly puts him up there with the greats. I have no doubts that he is a decent manager, I just don't understand what all the fuss is about and why everyone seems to think he's the mesiah. He still has a lot to prove.
apart from ottmar hitzfeld, he's probably the best manager that is available at present. i think people are getting carried away saying how good he is etc. truth is tho he's the best we can hope for at the moment. hitzfeld will probably wait for another big club to come in for him
one final i have to admit o'niell is a good manager imo i think some of the newcastle fans should lower there standards a touch its not as thou the biggest bosses in the world are queing up to take over
He does have alot to prove but he also needs a decent club to do it with!!! He's proved what he can do in the lower leagues and with Celtic in europe. They are never going to dominate in europe because of the poor league standard! Newcastle big club, with ok finances and the likes of england international Owen. Good strong league. I reckon he could achieve a few things there!
I very much doubt we'll get Hiddink, (although I would love it if we did) I think he's off to Madrid. I'm not too sure about O'Neill either, I would much rather go for someone like Hitzfeld who's done the business in Europe
I've absolutely no idea how true this is but, a bloke that I work with just got a phone call about 10mins ago from one of his mates, who's a Company Director down in London. Apparently a taxi company that his business use's have just dropped off Freddie Shepherd and Mark Hughes at an undisclosed destination.... Like I said though - I've no idea of the reliability of his source.
