how deep are the pockets is the main thing!

search engine optimisation is a huge deal and it takes a hell of a lot of work (and potentially expense!)

Make sure your pages are accessibile to crawlers, if you use css/flash menus, ensure there is a site map link at the bottom of the page in plain text.

Also ensure your meta tags are there, about 15 words or so..any more than that are likely to be ignored anyway.

Strategically repeat key words and meta tag words within the text on your home page

avoid complex layouts and too much flash - it makes it hard to read for crawlers.

Try to get relevant links out on other sites if possible. Don't put links on irrelevant sites or try to "cheat" by cramming them all in hidden code...this can lead to being blacklisted.

Dont forget that registering with sites isn't going to improve your rankings immediately...it could take a while.

The fact that search engines work differently doesn't help matters either.

You can see stats about your site by using google and typing info:www.whatever.com

We have a limit of 1000 pounds a month with google adwords, our site has been listed over 3000 times but it isnt at the top of the sponsored links, the highest it has been is about 4/5th, we have only had 5 clicks on the site through that too which is nothing in 5 weeks

Im not even the IT dept lol but they are hopeless in there when it comes to computers. Iv set up loads of key words then trial and error to see which words people search the most for.

    Cheers anyway :)

    What does the company do?

If its product driven then maybe submit to sites like Google Products, DooYoo, PriceRunner etc

Affiliate yourself with sites whos main focus is the products/services you deal with

Sounds like you need an e-marketing strategy

We are a property Company, going more into estate agency tho in the next few month so we need as much advertisement as possible.

The thing is its only a small company and the guys here dont even know what Search Engine Optimisation means lol and they dont wanna part with too much money.

Iv got a meeting tomorrow with the IT guys who own the website so hopefully they will be able to take this outta my hands as I havent got a clue either!
