help needed b4 my computer gets thrown out of window in spate of fury

    help needed b4 my computer gets thrown out of window in spate of fury

    rite, computer was running ok then all of a sudden it started 2 freeze when i started it up, now its slow as fuck, took my about 3 hours 2 get sumthing opened? any ideas, got loads of stuff i cant lose if computer gets formatted nd cant get anything off computer because it freezes

    try a system restore? virus scan?

    boot it up in safe mode and try running some virus and spyware scans. also type in msonfig in the search / run box and check to see if there are any abnormal programs launching at start up

    already tried that jimi, he didnt fancy it.

    already done the msconfig thing and it starts up with just the basics, im trying to uninstall all the programs i dont need like but i set it away ages ago nd its stuck on 48pc on uninstallation.

    Put in your XP cd and let it boot> when you are prompted, fire up the recovery console.

    At the prompt, run the "chkdsk /r" command

    See what that does.

    tried uninstalling a load of stuff i dont need nd seems to be running a little bit better, i mean it didnt take me hours to open anything, and im now listening to music again

    things are on the up
