    .........clicking, they shouldn't do that surely

    there is a random clicking coming from the tower, anyone know what it might be?

    Hard disk usually if it's totally random and sounds like metal on metal.

    phew, stopped now, just didn't like the sound of that.

    Have you got an ibm hard disk that's about 2 years old?

    please, don't say that. i bought an 80 gig IBM one about 9 months ago..... it's got about 40 gigs worth of .AVI's from my digital video camera on it...

    It's only certain models. I use 120gb ibm disks but I have two of them (all data backed up) incase of one blowing up.

    hhmm... heard a few bad things about ibm's. doesn't inspire me with confidence... will have to re-think my setup i reckon.

    I would not trust any single disk with any important data (my divx and mp3).

    It's worth having a backup of everything that matters to you.

    In defence of ibm, i've had both of mine on 24/7 for about 1-2years and i've had no problem.
