Help copying and pasting! NO THIS ISNT AS SIMPLE AS IT SOUNDS!

Can anyone help? I ve got a custom made spreadsheet (custom in that its the software companies own sheet, not anything to do with microsoft) with loads of data on, which i could do with copying and pasting into an excel document. Only problem is that this spreadsheet doesnt allow the copy facility. Is there some powerful text editor or anything that might allow me to copy the text?

    Thanks,

    Ken

can u use excel's import function to open it? OR in the 'companies' spreadsheet, can u save it in a different format? like text, or CSV?

    try that.

The spreadsheet cannot be saved or altered in anyway:( and can only be opened via the cd. I can open it in excel, with some useful info in, but the majority comes out as squares and symbols. The files are full of:

    .dat
    .dia
    .ndx

if thats of any more help:confused:

it's probably saved in it's own format - unless it's a basic text file or comma separated, excel probs won't be able to read it or will just import it as rubbish.

the .DAT is probably the data file with the .ndx as the index.

hhmm... if there's no other export feature in the original package - i think u might be a bit stuck.

try google - see if u can find some kind of program to convert the original format (whatever it's name is) to any other type of spreadsheet (it doesn;'t have to be excel as it read loads of different formats)

    other than that  soz!
