help!, before i go insane! tryin to record 1 of my mixes onto comp to burn onto cd, but its not recording 4 sum reason, all the obvious is done, and its playing out of pc speakers still, wots wrong??
yeah but karl something that’s obvious to me might not be obvious to you, actually, that’s probably pretty likely what prog are u usin to record?
hmmm dunno, I used the Creative one, and apart from fuckin up levels a couple of times, I ve not had a problem, once its playing through your speakers, and u ve selected to record the line-in, it should work
use cool edit pro, its REALLY easy to do. install, check the record level, set your mixer volume so the record level is right, click record......thats it. then save as an mp3.......and burn.... nothing fancy, but it works.....+ is karl proof!
i used CoolEdit 2000, does the trick nicely... This is usually the problem - go into the control panel and into your sounds config thing, u can access it by clicking on the speaker in your system tray, then go to 'Properties' In the 'Recording' section, make sure you've got the correct channel set to record from - sometimes it defaults to Line-In or Mic, espcially if you've been recording from another source like streamed music from the net. There should be a little tick box next to the channel - the window when it opens should look like Windows volume controls, but it's for recording levels. you'll find it...
definately sounds like you're not recording the right channel. Make sure in the 'recording' window, there's no other inputs selected, only the one you're recording from, then make sure you've got the lead plugged into the correct input on the sound card. if thats not it, check yer levels on the mixer and which output its connected to.
without any of the recording software open, if you've got it plugged into your Line In jack, with the channel selected in the Audio Properties of windows, you should be able to hear it playing, simply cause it's going straight thru yer sound card. or failing that, stick it under yer arm and bring it to promise tomorrow night, there'll be a few of us there to have a look at it for ya!
hhmm.... what about system sounds? (like windows booting up and stuff like that) are they ok? i suppose it could be a sound card on its way out... doubt it like...
it can be confusing, cause there's 2 sound control windows, volume and recording but they almost identical... try it with none of the tick boxes 'ticked' then tick one at a time and play a sound that would come out on that channel, see if u can work out where the problem is... sounds like i've made it worse... aah well. soz.
id say its all done right, recon its a crap sound card or summit?? anyone got a recordable cd deck 4 sale
bog standard sound cards aren't designed to handle it really... i know mine always fucks up the levels, distorts it like it's way too loud, overdriving it... i proper card with the right inputs would be a breese....
