How do you get them to work?
I never got them to work when i had my old motherboard in and with this new one they still don't. I had the wire from my soundcard attatched to one of them and it didnt work. Atm I'm using onboard sound.

might sound stupid but... are u trying to listen to sound from the PC? cos u will only be able to hear sound from a cd in the drive if u plug your headphones in there. get people all the time at work plugging headphones in there and trying to listen to tunes playing through media player

You can only hear CD Audio thru the headphone jack on the front of CD roms. Some CDroms have 2 buttons on the front , open and play buttons. Bung a cd in, run the cdplayer - it should work by default.
