The bbc is going to screen the world cup in HDTV format. the only problem is you will need a HD sky or cable box to watch it.

Free view HDTV isn't expected until 2011, which is to be honest totally wank.

I watched my first HDTV movie last night and I was very impressed. The film was wank (the transporter) but the detail is amazing. You can see so much more when you compare it to dvd.

I see what all the fuss is about now.

I just got the email from sky offering me HD box with installation on 1st May

Thing is, the reviews I've seen have been terrible so I'm not too sure if it's worth shelling out for- has anyone got any first hand experience of the new HD or know anyone that has before I put my deposit down??

    Cheers

If you have sky sports and like yer football then go for it. If not then there are going to be very few HD broadcasts so you might as well wait till there is more HD content.
