HD25's Headphones of champions Used my new ones lastnight @ the bar. swinging between the hind legs of a grand national winner
They're really good for studio work. Prefer something a bit more closed for DJing, like the sony's or the bling pioneers. But they are plenty loud enough.
I have had and broken a few pairs of the Sony dustbins, a few pairs of Pioneer blings and one set of technics. HD25's were the only ones left
Had some of the old technoics headphones - the black ones without the curly cord - really like them but one of the cups worked loose and snapped the wire. Really good sopund though.
i never use headphones in studio!!! how can u possibly master down or get a good feeling of a tune through heaphones
no im not, how can u possibly get a good idea of what a tune sounds like on a mint sound sytem if you are using headphones you cant get a good judgement of all the layers in the tune because they are coming direct to your ear imo you should never mix down with headphones ever! and aslong as you got a decent set of speakers never use heaphones in studio which studios do you know that have headphones in place of speakers.
Don't know any, but that's not to say they don't have and use them in studios aswell. Any pro recording studio has headphones along with a range of speakers. When mixing down, yes you use monitor speakers, but you need to use a range of different speakers and headphones if possible to see how it sounds on each. How do you know the speakers you are using aren't too bass heavy, or too bright? All speakers - even supposedly flat response monitors - colour the sound slightly, so you never get a truly flat response from anything unless you pay a few thousand for your monitoring system - which very few people do - you do get a very near though, but that's why it's good to check on a few if possible. Beyer DT100s are an industry standard in recording studios. They're shit for dj monitoring in my opinion but they're not meant for that, they're meant for mixing down, getting levels right etc they are a very important tool in most studios I would say.
imo the best way to get the right sound and level on ur finished mix is to try it on as many systems as possible to see how it sounds, you obv will want to try it on headphones but that doesnt mean mastering or producing using headphones a difference of opinoons probably you prefer to sue headphones i dont.
