they brand telly's as 'HD READY' OR 'FULL HD'. Full FD telly operate upto 1080p resolution, while 'HD READY' tellys will probably only go upto 720/1080i

what is he connecting to it? if may be he's trying to play full HD thru it

Its just an up-conversion DVD player but the feed thru HDMI isnt hitting the tele, just sayin "No Sync". Its not HDReady or Full HD, just HD. From what i can tell that means its got a digital receiver built in but it has the HDMI port so should carry data through it.

upscaling DVD player? connect it via a scart, go into the settings, somewhere there's bound to be a HDMI output set up - set it to 720 first (to test it works) then re-connect the HDMI.

if it does, THEN Repeat but set it higher again. 1080i will be the highest resolution i imagine you can get it to.

OR find the model of the telly and find it's highest resolution.

yeah, so you need to find out what resolution his telly works at. if the dvd player is set to output a higher resolution it won't display it.

hence, the type of telly. they just stick HD stickers on anything over a standard TV - it covers loads of resolutions - it depends on the spec of the telly. BUT to test it out, set the HDMI output to something low, that way u can increase it bit by bit until it stops working (you then know it's max resolution)

OR find the model, find it's max resolution, set the DVD player to that in the setting menu

what MOS said, the sync will refer to the matching of resolutions from the player to the tele, if it just says hd id imagine the resolution will be 1024 x 768 possibly 1360 x 768

Right, just been down to try it but cannot access the HDMI setup in the menu as the DVD player doesnt seem to recognise its plugged into an HDMI port. Brought it home and can access it nee bother on mine. Is this a dodgy HDMI port on the TV or is it coz the tv's not HDReady?

might be a dodgy port, if the tele has a hdmi port that indicates it is hd ready
