Have Brits as a whole got a narrow mind about music?

U look at the number of DJs abroad... and what we get the in the UK, the difference is huge... Is it cos as a whole the uk only want to hear the big big names?

Just look at Newcastle as a prime example, empty for Johan Gielen, Matt Hardwick, was SHOKK quiet? Stick these DJs in Germany, Holland, etc. and the crowds would have been immense!

They get all the huge events...Impulz (Holland), Trance Energy(Holland), Goliath(Switzerland), Rosemontags Rave (Germany), a proper Love Parade (Germany), Dance Valley (Holland), Dutch Dimension, Massive, Mysteryland, Hyperstate (Norway) etc.. we get GK and GC... and although these events arent just in one country, they seem to be on a scale that GK or GC could not touch!

Sorry guys, trance in this country is nothing in comparision!

id say probly yeah, and its not just trance either, i dont know many musically open-minded ppl to be honest... almost everyone i know will just say "oh thats shit" without even listenin to it, and thats somethin ill never understand - isnt loving music meant to be partly about searching out new stuff? oh i dunno, maybe im just bein idealistic in my old age... lol... :)

"oh you're into that bang bang bang stuff"
is a typical response when you tell someone your into dance music, regardless of whether its funky house or hard trance you like.

places like baja, blubamboo etc kill this nation's music culture. Although they are immensely profitable, they pump out the same music every night of every week of every year....

i think there's a problem with the drinking culture in this country, people go out with the objective to drink as much as they can in as short a timespan as possible. This is related to places like baja being succesful, but im havent really figured out how yet...

another point, how many blokes enjoy going to baja? is that the music you listen to in your car? no matey, not likely. boys go cos girls go.

get girls interested in dance music again and the crowds will come flooding, im sure :king:

definately agree with that, if you just get ppl in cos you need em to make it look full, thats bad really, it doesnt add to the atmosphere all that much... ppl who love the music make a club what it is, theyre its identity really, from the few times ive beenb id say promise didnt really need no more girls, there are some stunners there ;) but the good thing bout promise is that most ppl are there for the music and thats why it has such a great atmosphere...

getting people interested into dance music is not easy. people slag off cheesy dance music and most of it for us isn't good but what it does do is bring the youth into enjoying dance music. I didn't like trance properly till i was at least 14 but before this was well into cheesey trance music if it hadn't been for this cheesy dance music i may never have found trance properly. People definitely need a broader mind in music otherwise clubs just simply cannot progress.

agree with that too, as much as i hate cheesy shite now, i did start off likin stuff like sash, chessy stuff like that, dave pearce lmao, if id heard umek - lanicor, or somethin like that i wouldve hated it back when i was 1st gettin into dance music... everyones gotta start somewhere, and if chessy dance music is the way they get into decent stuff then so be it...
