has promise.. ever fort of getting rid of the prog warm-up on a friday?... and start with a more trancey start to the night?.... cos i nearly fall asleep 10-11.30 ish... no never ever EVER EVER EVER NIGHTS ARE ABOUT BUILDING MUSICALLY , NOT BANG BANG BANG
think there more suitable genres than prog house though, soft floaty trance n prog trance in my eyes would go down much better... think max graham personally though I prefer to go all out from the start - think sundissential or any number of hard house clubs... as promise is only open 5-6 hours I think it makes sense to dive in head first last week was really good warm up wise
yip!!!... why waste 2 hrs!!..... revel - i wud get there later.. but id onlee be there from 12.30 ish.. not long for my 10 squid
I do find promise quite boring early till 12, would much rather it started off trancey and got slightly harder as the nite went on!
I was talking to someone about this a while ago (Dr HH) and he pointed out to me that in the first hour or so you generally just hang around and chat to mates, that is one of me fave parts of the night, I don't think it would be the same if the music was different ealier on, I like it the way it is! Wouldn't like it to last any longer tho!
i agree that a buildup is needed 2 a certain extent.. but i think 10-11 is adequate... sumtimes it drags on till past 12.. zzzzzz how about when a buildup is needed.. promise has one... and when its not.. ie when halliwell.. kerry james.. or basically any harder djs are on.. have a more trancey or harder start to the night...
for the best warm up dj i've seen yet.... col hamilton. can read any crowd... and set it up for any dj.... making him 1 of the top ressies in the uk. book 'im
I do enjoy a bit of prog to start off with but agree it could be bit shorter. By 11.30 things should really have started kicking off.
richards warm ups are amazin. they're a pleasure to listen to and are a part of promise, and the slow build up makes the night work better. if ya dont like em then get there later.
I think the set up is spot on as it is. I reckon the only way that playing harder/earlier would work is if the crowd also came earlier. I have to say that if the crowd are up for it early enough then hard and early can be fantastic, like Red and Black last Boxing Day....full on crowd going for it to Universal Nation when I arrived....at 22.15....it was one of the best feelings ever.
