Am watching this live through bet365.com, and while i was waiting for the stream to start i stuck a fiver on newcastle to be losing at half time and then win the match. Got odds of 40/1!

Krul had a cracking 45m. Everyone else was fairly anonymous really.

Think Carson touched the ball about 5 times, 4 back passes and once to pick it out the net.

Was hoing for a late Nile Ranger goal :(

    Hmmm?

Not sure what match you were watching Gramp's but id quite happily settle with a 1-1 draw against a team that are odds on favourites to go straight back up this Season, playing away from home, 1st game of the season. WBrom were one of our biggest tests id say.

We looked surprisingly sharper than I ever expected yesterday considering all the shite the past few months, Smith seems to have totally reinvented himself since he got the captaincy. Duff was always a threat on the wing & Jonas (despite all the dives) looked electric. Carrol looked solid up front, he held the ball up nicely - just what we need this season. Krul was amazing, looked so much more agile than Harper is.

We were unlucky with the goal, both half's we totally took the game to them & had them on the back foot for the majority of the time, WBrom looked fast on the counter but had fuck all to show for it. It's our age old problem of not being able to handle set pieces with composure that cost us, but to be fair to the toon it was a scrappy goal.

Collocini had a nightmare, the sooner we can shift him the better I say. It's as if he just cant handle the pace of English football, he looked lost at times & it gets so frustrating watching him foul players he simply cant keep up with, he was very lucky to only leave with a yellow yesterday imo.

Shola.. well fuck me. Me & Nicky were looking at each other yesterday laughing in total disbelief. we need to give Ranger more of an opportunity this season, we could have had another 2 goals if Shola had an ounce of hunger/urgency like a true striker should.

All in all I say we did well, played some decent football at times, if we can put that same performance in this season I think teams are going to be in for a big shock thinking there going to come up & scalp us.

Well said mate, spot on that.

Pike you're a cunt. You're like one of my mates who basically never goes to watch Sunderland yet bask in the fact you've got 'one over on Newcastle.' The worst thing is you actually support Man United which makes you even more of a cunt!!

Spot on that like. I thought we played quiet well, especially with all the paper talk of Barton up to his usual tricks

I've said all along I dont think Carroll or Ameobi have the pace or creativity to score goals on their own, & with the lack of service we provided our strikers last year & with no new signings this year - I just cant see them scoring many. Would love to be wrong

I think Jonas / Enrique / Coloccini got a pretty big wake up call in that game. Thought all 3 struggled at times. On the ball Jonas was running rings around their right back but his final ball is shocking & in the second half I cant remember hearing his name in an attacking sense. Good bet for the Argies diving team in the Olympics mind

Still not convinced with Kevin Nolan & Ryan Taylor. Blame Taylor for the their goal like

I completely agree with Proudy. It's just having a pop at Newcastle just for the sake of having a pop.

Pike - basking at what????? Did Newcastle lose? Nope. Glad to see you are happy coz Newcastle didn't lose.

Fat Harper? A better keeper than Craig Gordon and he didn't cost £9million.

Newcastle played some good stuff at times. It's probs one of the hardest league games they will have this season, we've got it out the way early and got a decent point.

Still lacking pace and creativity in midfield, but I am sure that will be addressed once the more important things have been sorted.

I was encouraged by what Shearer said on the Beeb, about him not being able to say too much but he has spoken with some consortiums.

Smith had a very good game in midfield, Taylor (Steven) was solid, Gutierrez lively (depsite some poor final balls), as was Duff.

I think it was a good result, considering the current plight and everyone expecting us to get a spanking. We looked sharp and lively, quite dangerous at times going forward (with the exception of Ameobi) and Coloccini.

It is something to build on definately, and hopefully the ownership thing can be sorted sooner and later and we can all move on.

I would take a 1-1 away draw with WBA ahead of 0-0 at home with Sheff Utd any day.

I still think it is between us and Boro for top spot.

If you are going to have a pop at Newcastle give a good reason for it, dont just do it for the sake of it.
