HABIT WAREHOUSE PARTY | FRANÇOIS K | SAT 13th MARCH

After a sell out success in October 2009 Habit returns to Hoults Yard for another eagerly awaited warehouse party. The venue will be transformed to communicate the AV festival’s theme of ENERGY and will showcase live visual projections coupled with a rare UK performance from legendary New York DJ, producer and record label owner FRANÇOIS K

François K has done it all. Having started his career in the 1970’s at renowned clubs such as the Paradise Garage and Studio 54, he is widely considered as one of the forefathers of house music. He has mixed albums for Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode, remixed singles for artists such as The Eurhythmics, U2, Mick Jagger and Diana Ross, toured with Larry Levan and set up New York's original Body & Soul parties with Joe Claussell and Danny Krivit. These days Kevorkian is known for keeping New York City up on a Monday night via his Deep Space residency. He also owns the Wave Music imprint and continues to DJ at the finest clubs and festivals worldwide.

It is genuinely difficult to think of anyone who has had a greater long term influence on dance music than François K. A true Pioneer, a true visionary.

£17+bf seems very steep for 10-4 and one dj. The council charging you a bomb to hold a warehouse party ?

no, nothing to do with council but the venue is an empty 'warehouse' not a club.

so we need to pay for venue hire then staging, lighting, screens/projectors, sound, lighting technician, VJ etc etc. its not a case of just turning up to a club paying them a few hundred quid for hire and then getting on with it.

not sure if you know much about his history either but francois k is not exactly cheap (more than double what we have paid anyone before) along with business class flights from new york for him.

all these costs together with a 500 capacity licence means we have to cover our costs. this is one off chance to see someone like FK play in a 500 capacity warehouse venue. if we had a 1000 capacity venue then obviously ticket cost would decrease.

BF is only 50p if booked through AV Festival and drinks prices are fair.

all in all we have huge financial outlay for these type of events and if it sells out we will make a small return in comparison to money risked.

    Wicked.

Class that he's playing four hours as well, people who can play for that long and pull it off are a bit of a dying breed

In fairness i would go and see a monkey banging a dustbin lid in that warehouse , proper amazing venue

    Can't wait
