Room One: SASSE (MOOD MUSIC - BERLIN) With releases on more than twenty labels under eight pseudonyms in the past 15 years, Sasse gets around. His Moodmusic label is the epitome of good-time house music, featuring releases from Spirit Catcher, Dirt Crew and Henrik Schwarz (Sasse's partner in crime in Asshole & Gentleman). This goodwill has even gotten him into the good graces of one Tracey Thorn: Sasse co-wrote 'It's All True' on her new album along with Darshan Jesrani and Ewan Pearson. In addition to this, Sasse has remixed and worked with as diverse artists such as Slam, Blaze, Phil Weeks, Phonogenic, Jori Hulkkonen, Phonique, and Marco Carola and for labels such as Dirt Crew Recordings, Buzzin Fly, Brique Rouge, Playhouse, Pokerflat, Soma, 20/20 Vision, Moon Harbour, and Dessous. Besides producing, Sasse also DJs, holding down residencies at Berlin's infamous Panoramabar and Weekend club nights. His style ranges from electronic, luscious house vibes, funky, deep techno and electro. Caught Sasse at one of the Sonar parties last night and have to say I was pretty impressed. Could quite easily be this years Simon Baker ie. He didnt play how I expected him to play..... He was far better Most of his recent productions have been excellent but I always reserve a bit of judgement when dealing with people who are known for making records rather than playing them. They could be the best producer in the world but a shit DJ...... Thankfully Sasse isnt the latter!
Well up for this now. Sasse is wicked - resident at both at Panorama Bar/Berghain AND Weekend in Berlin. Not bad going at all. Some people may be familiar with his Freestyle Man guise as well.
