HABIT / MANUEL TUR & DEEP DOWN MUSIC / FRIDAY 1 AUGUST 2008

Room One: Manuel Tur (Freerange, Drumpoet)

"Kids today don't really know about house music. That's fair to say
isn't it? Well thank god there's someone out there willing to pick up
the baton and run like bugger with it ! Manuel Tur is a 22 year old
wunderkind from Essen, Germany who has taken the deep house world by
storm. While his mates were out smoking Camels and drinking weiss beer
behind the fahrradhalle young Manuel was honing his craft by immersing
himself in the sounds of Swag, Ian Pooley and Blakkat.

It wasn't long before his material started being released through labels
such as Agave, SoSound and Sebastien Leger's own Bits Music until he
hooked up with Freerange Records. His unreleased tracks entitled Acorado
and Portamento became a staple in Jimpsters DJ sets so he set about
getting Manuel to record an EP for his label, followed by productions
and remixes for such renowned labels as Drumpoet, NRK, Compost or
    2020Vision.

more info on the deep down lads upstairs.

Upstairs in the Boudoir: DEEP DOWN MUSIC

Feat: Ian Buckingham, Joe Minns & Rob Oxley

For the past seven years Deepdown Music have been holding salubrious events throughout the North East. Famed for their debauched 'Love Boat' parties in Durham, their events have now taken to dry land and included guest DJ's such as Justin Crawford (Unabombers) and Rahaan (Bring The Heat, Chicago). Their music policy is simply "If its good, play it" and this is refected in the soundtrack from Rob Oxley, Joe Minns, Ian Buckingham and Rory Cochrane with takes in deep house, US house, disco, soul, funk, techno, broken beat and jazz. On top of their own events they regularly play guest slots throughout the North East and have close links to many of the North Easts finest underground events.
