    HABIT | GUY GERBER & MAURICE FULTON | FRI 6th JUNE | COSMIC B

In Room one Habit introduce one of Cocoon's hottest artists. Upstairs in the Boudoir, FutureBeatRadio.com present a unique special guest.

    Room one:

    GUY GERBER (COCOON)

Guy Gerber is a 33 year old ex-footballer and one of the world’s finest producers right now. He first came to attention in 2004 with ‘Stoppage Time’, a peaktime destroyer which Gerber put together in three hours supposedly. It was picked up by DJs as varied as John Digweed and Sven Vath. In fact, Vath loved it so much he signed Gerber to Cocoon for whom he has produced three 12”s, and his debut LP ‘Late Bloomers’.

Gerber has recently come into his own as a DJ too heading out from Tel Aviv each weekend to play clubs around Europe, North America and Asia. Never one to be easily pigeonholed in any particular style, Gerber weaves together house and techno with a fine ear for melody.

    Upstairs in the Boudoir:

    FUTUREBEATRADIO.COM present:

    MAURICE FULTON

Maurice Fulton is one of house music’s true originals, an eccentric ex-pat American (currently living in Sheffield) DJ and producer who never fails to surprise and delight his listeners.

Maurice Fulton has been round the block in more ways than one, not only did he have a hand in producing Gypsy Woman by Crystal Waters, one of the most successful house tunes of the early ‘90s; he is the darling of both the underground house and leftfield scenes with an enviable back catalogue,

I love the flyer for this one.

Really glad to eventually get Guy Gerber - been trying for ages. Maurice Fulton will no doubt smash it upstairs as well.

Guy Gerber's new track - ‘Disorientation’ /interview with Jonny D remix.

The first 2008 release from Guy Gerber’s Supplement Facts imprint comes from Gerber himself with ‘Disorientation’, including remixes from two of the current most hotly tipped productions talents - Johnny D and Reboot.

“I made ‘Disorientation’ after a tour in South America in January this year. Some of my friends describe it as a futuristic Ennio Morricone sounding track, which is pretty amazing. I had the saxophone sample from a friend for a long time and was always playing with it, but all the time it was too ‘pretty’ for me. Until a few friends joined me for a late night session; about 8am, I was twisting it through a very cool effect and I got this very weird harmony out of it, and I knew that it was made..

‘Disorientation’ is Gerber’s first solo EP release since his ‘Belly Dancing’ EP last year on Cocoon Recordings, taken from his ‘Late Bloomers’ album - released later in May - an album which won him massive worldwide support and with which he toured Live around the globe.

“..I always like to tell a story in a track - to build a drama, then make the situation a bit chaotic and finish with an optimistic look into the future, which is also bitter/sweet ..”

With ‘Disorientation’, Gerber’s sound has taken a more natural, housey direction than his previous workings. Just as his describes, ‘Disorientation’ spends the first half layering: We start with a clean kick drum balanced between a ping-pong ball batting back and forth, synths descend and wash over, a violin strings through the top layer, the base drops in, the reverb works in between and The Saxophone hits for the mid-way drama.. Coming down, the tension keeps a steady pace as the layers gradually become less, the bass departs and we are left with only the sounds with which we began.

“..For the remixers, I choose Johnny D because he is my favourite artist of the moment - I have to admit that his melodies touch me like no other artist from the present (I’m very picky with that) - and I want Supplement Facts to go in a more housey direction this year, his sound is fantastic for this. I also wanted this release to be a perfect after hour record and Reboot is great for that too..”

Johnny D delivers exactly what is expected of him; 7.30 minutes of pure and raw house energy keeps rolling and rolling. Reboot strip it back but keep a bounce for the early hours.

“..Last year I was mostly busy with my album tour and just wanted to have my own label to release tracks. But now I’m much more focused and I want the Supplement Facts sound to be much more defined. And for sure that all the tracks should try and be special, and not just dance floor tunes.” - Guy Gerber

Guy Gerber, based in Tel Aviv (Israel), released his debut album ‘Late Bloomers’ on Cocoon in 2007 to great world-wide support. He spent the latter half of 2007 touring and building and developing his Supplement Facts imprint to become a solid home for his own productions and those of his friends - including Chaim, David K and
Re:Shuffle. As we look forward to 2008 Gerber continues to build Supplement Facts through its artist roster - with forthcoming releases already scheduled from Chris Carrier and David K - and worldwide touring. He is currently working on his Live Project album, due for release in late 2008.

Guy Gerber ‘Disorientation’ including remixes from Johnny D and Reboot is released May 19 (Vinyl) and June 26 (digital).

Maurice Fulton new album..... (or is it??? )

Syclops, the mysterious project helmed by Maurice Fulton, will drop its debut album I Got My Eye on You this June.

The mystery? While Discogs claims Fulton is the man behind Syclops, the Finnish trio of Sven Kortehisto (keyboards, electronics), Hanna Sarkari (bass, keyboards and electronics) and Jukka Kantonen (drums, percussion and drum programming) are named in the press notes as the group. Those Finns are widely believed to be figments of Fulton’s imagination, although he claims they were the ones playing on his remix of Hot Chip’s ‘Over & Over’ and Kathy Diamond’s disco-funk epic Miss Diamond to You. Not helping their cause is the fact that they, like Fulton, don’t do interviews. (On the other hand, Fulton has worked in the past with Jimi Tenor, so the Finnish connection isn’t all that hard to believe.)

What we do know is that whoever is behind the music on I’ve Got My Eye On You, they’ve successfully extended the ‘Jason K’ vibe to a full-length. The album is a journey into the nether regions of dark, live-sounding electro in tracks like ‘5 Out’ and ‘The E Ticket’ until you come out on the other side of ‘A Lovely Sunday’, a patient and beautiful coda that uses the same elements for good, rather than evil.

    Tracklisting
    01 NR17
    02 The Fly
    03 Naoka’s F
    04 5 Out
    05 Nelson’s Back
    06 Where’s Jason’s K?
    07 The E Ticket
    08 Mom, The Video Broke
09 I’ve Got My Eye On You
    10 A Lovely Sunday

I’ve Got My Eye On You will be released on June 2, 2008 on DFA.
