HABIT - ÂME & DOMU - FRIDAY 4TH OF MAY - Cosmic B This May Bank Holiday sees a welcome return in room one from one of last year's Habit highlights and upstairs in the Boudoir; a true broken beat innovator. Room one: ÂME (INNERVISIONS / FRANK WEIDEMANN DJ SET) Upstairs in the Boudoir - hosted by Those That Know: DOMU (CO-OP / SONAR KOLLEKTIV) ÂME Last year Frank Wiedemann and Kristian Beyer, the German duo behind Âme had massive international success with their track 'Rej'.It is now regarded in many circles as a modern day dance classic and a track that defined the sound of 2006. Alongside ‘Rej’; Âme worked their magic for Ben Watt’s Buzzin Fly imprint reworking 'Rodaamal – Insomnia’, which produced another huge Ibiza anthem and also released high quality remixes of ‘Akabu - Future Bound' and a collabration with ‘Dixon, Henrik Schwarz and DerrickCarter - Where We At'. With Dixon, they co-run the ultra hip Berlin based label Innervisions. With their first 10 releases placing a real emphasis on high quality house music. In October of last year, they released a compilation called ‘Mixing’, a highly sophisticated house mix, named by many as the best mix album of 2006. In a nutshell, Âme are one of the very finest acts around, and Habit are delighted to welcome back Frank Wiedemann for another special DJ set. Support from Mark Johnson (Habit) Upstairs in the Boudoir - hosted by Those That Know DOMU Originally coming to peoples’ attention in his teens, Dominic first started releasing records as Sonar Circle for 4-Hero’s seminal Reinforced label. Since then he has tried his hand at pretty much every genre of music known to man. He’s released music under a myriad of guises for pretty much every forward thinking label in the world, including music as Domu, Bakura, Rima and Umod. Resident at London’s legendary Co-op night, he’s also travelled the globe playing in some of the worlds most well respected clubs. His DJ sets are as broad as his productions, taking in Jazz, Hip Hop, House, Broken Beats, Disco, Soul and Funk, all put together with some serious turntable skills. no he def played the best set out of all the guests we had on last year imo and probably the best out of all we have had on. you were proper loving that moloko track
This was by far the best night I had last year. Mainly because I was half expecting a 3 hour journey through the latest minimal tracks doing the rounds. However I couldnt have been more wrong. Frank is one of the very few DJs that I have seen in recent times that can control a dancefloor from start to finish and keep the place rammed. I would recommend anyone that has the same thoughts as I had in thinking this will be what they do in the studio to get along. Best DJ we have had on in my opinion. Hopefully see some of you there.
Can't wait for this like lads. Gonna try to keep it on the straight and narrow for the first time ever. My attempt at being "professional".
Hope to see a few of you down tomorrow. New layout downstairs and the sound system are supposed to be wicked. Gareth Johns is doing the warm up at Camp David from 8pm.
