I used to quite like them years ago but when you read some of the stuff they used to do and say, it was pretty bad.
im reading their biog at the moment actually, its well interesting, some of the shit that axl went through as a kid its no wonder hes as fucked up as he is tbf!!!! they were the 1st band i really got into as a young 'un though, still got all the albums too!!!!
Appetite For Destruction - fucking mint Use Your Illusion 1 & 2 - both and Spaghetti Incident - biggest pile of toss ever What a fucking career - spans much more than Bowie or The Beatles... ps I met Slash at the Parthenon in Athens
Forgot to add, Slash's Snakepit - It's Five O'clock Somewhere - anyone hear it? Mint mint mint mint mint.
Loads of the album tracks (ie. ones that they didn't release as singles) are often the best ones. Also remember 'Coma' being a right banger. Haven't heard that for probably 15 years.
Patience was off 'Lies' their second studio album. well, it was in 2 parts actually. half live tracks, half accoustic. the live tracks were from 86 sometime - their original EP they released. THEN appetite came out '87. if u want some CLASSIC guns and roses stuff - check out 'shadow of your love' or 'whole lotta rosie' (ACDC Cover) - Axl's voice is raw and vicious, all recorded in their early days - it went weak with the use you illusion albums. Gn'R defined my childhood. i was 12 when i got appetite - my favourite band EVER and my most favourite album by a long shot. Saw them on the first leg of their use your illusion tour at wembley stadium '91 - they filmed the video for 'live and let die' and shot the crowd scenes for the inside cover of the 12" single. i was on it.... well.. there's some back combed hair in the way. NIN were supporting - thats how i got into NIN dodgy/peter they turned into corporate fucks later on, touring the world to death. got so many of their singles, most of the early singles on 7" ... the spagetti incident just sealed their coffin. Axl should have let it die. Saw slash's snakepit and Donnington in '95. he was bottled. damn right - he sucked. it was a sad day. once matt sorum came in, then izzy and duff left - it wasn't the same original raw band from LA. Axl has now had face peels. jesus. And, i'm sad to say - i have a Gn'R tattoo. i was young... but it's cool - it's the old pic off the drum kit - slash's skull and famous hat with the crossed guns behind. now words, i might add.... Paradise city or sweet child of mine will probably be at my funeral i reckon.... quick - something else we agree on - we gotta stop this Gn'R train spotter me... my mate had an ORIGINAL copy of appetite on 12"- with the rape scene cover b4 it was banned - the cover was then moved inside and the classic Gn'R cross& skulls logo that everyone has now. Welcome to the jungle baby - wake up, it's time to die... got loads of live videos, inc that paris 1 they did where axl slated warren beatty cause he was shagging one of his ex-birds. Anyone remeber the 'freddy mercury tribute' concert they played? massive uproar cause of axl's view and lyrics on gays. but they rocked anyways.... ahhhh to be a young metaller again!
Guns n roses are the first band i really got into and still absolutely love now.....they introduced me to rock and punk rock (Duff and slash were both heavily punk influenced....this shows on some of the lies tracks) Dont think there is one track that i dont like..... No matter how far slash, duff and matt try to move away from GnR and focus on Velvet Revolver...they will always be the 'guys from GnR' which became apparent at their gig the other day when the openning of Its so easy gave them more applause and whistling than any of their own tracks. Dodgy; I agree...its five o clock somewhere is a quality album...
