Gtfi Sunderland 0-3 Arsenal Emmanuel Eboue and Robin van Persie scored as Arsenal beat Sunderland to go through to the Carling Cup last 16. Arsenal striker Van Persie wasted the best chance of the first half, hitting a drive straight at keeper Ben Alnwick. But the Gunners went ahead just after the hour mark, Eboue slamming a shot into the bottom corner from 30 yards. Van Persie doubled the lead from the spot after Arturo Lupoli was fouled and the Dutch striker completed the scoring from Sebastian Larsson's through ball.
