Grolsch Poker Series Championship - Newcastle Be crowned as Newcastle’s Poker Champion. 1 day (tbc) for 7 weeks - starting around the 16th July 2006 Newcastle plays host to its premier poker series sponsored by Grolsch. The format is Texas Holdem and all games are refereed by trained individuals. There are a maximum of 120 places available of heats of 4 weeks, with places being booked fast. 6 tables of 5 people per week and the top two chip leaders go through to the knockout stages from each table. The venue to be used will be selected from a shortlist in the next few days, but will be in the city centre. Game tables will be fully clothed, and Grolsch Silver Service hostesses will cater for all your needs. Finger food will be provided free of charge throughout the series, all you will need to bring is your game plan. Games may go on for several hours so only true poker plays need apply. As we are hosting it in a bar or club the gambling commission states no prize can be given as a 'direct' result of the game(s) however on this occasion they have permitted us to provide a crystal trophy crowing the winner as Newcastle’s Poker champion. It’s free to enter, as we want to find the best poker players in Newcastle and a charge may exclude the more financially constrained should we say. winners will be put forward to play in a masters series at one of Newcastle’s up and coming casino's - however we are still in the negotiation stage at present.
