Didn't they stop using those types of batteries years ago? It used to be the case that you had to charge the shit out of it so it would 'remember' it's charge potential, but not anymore.

Not sure if it's brand-specific but the N95 doesn't use those kind of batteries.

The N95 has a barcode scanner too. It reads some basic info from some barcodes. I fail to see how a phone could read the prices though seeing as they're stored on computers, not in the barcode.

Because a bar code is specific to a product and doesn't change. In a shop they change the price to reflect how much they want to charge for that product.

So when you scan something in on the phone it recognises that that bar code is for say Resident Evil 5, so searches online retailers prices over the net just like any price comparison website like offer of the day.

Bingo... it tells you if you can get it cheaper online.

Oh, that's clever. Does it work well or is it a hit and miss thing?

I thought from the original post that the price check was with the shop it was in.

I really don't see the point in this though.. everyone knows that stuff on the internet is usually cheaper than it is in a shop.. so why go to a shop to scan a barcode when you can just use the internet anyway?

I've never used it so wouldn't know if its hit or miss. It would check online for that shop also though i think if you were in a shop where you can shop online also for.

I think the point of it is just that you can get some bargains in store as they do deals in store. I've found things in shops cheaper than online before but it's just by chance. If your on your lunch and see something you can give it a quick scan, who knows you could save yourself £10 going online or may find that the one in the shop is a total bargain.

At the end of the day it's just an application and you don't need to use it but it could come in handy.
