Back in Manchester on Friday June 29th at the city's best venue, the reborn Sankeys! The reality of a modern British summer is now well known: spells of scorching sunshine, smatterings of showers and (depending on your point of view) sensational/shoddy shows on the small screen. What's more, as the days get longer, the options available to the partying public to escape all this get smaller as most club nights seem to take a holiday. However, this summer Goodgreef is taking a stand, returning to Manchester on Friday 29th June at a the new Sankeys venue and giving the people the power to choose GG instead of BB and who plays, you decide! It’s an incredible and unique concept bringing all clubbers the chance to vote for people they want to see play – and that includes you! For its first Manchester gig in over 6 months, Goodgreef is taking over what is undoubtedly the city's best club - the recently refurbished and completely reborn Sankeys. Boasting one of the UK's best sound systems, a sensory overloading lighting grid and three different rooms, it has a raw underground vibe while at the same time being absolutely cutting edge. This is the first time it has been used for hard dance in what will be an event like no other, as this time the clubbers themselves will be able to choose who plays via three web/mobile votes running throughout April. The first vote is for which Hard House legend Goodgreef’s loyal followers want to see bash it out on the world beating Phazon sound system in the main Sankeys Basement aptly titled Goodgreef’s ‘Xtra Hard House’. On the ballot are godfather of the scene, original Sundissential and Frantic resident Andy Farley; leading lady and original tidy girl Anne Savage; the roof raising Rob Tissera, famed for his closing sets at Sundissential North; and Paul Glazby, the Vicious Circle head honcho who cut his teeth as resident at Insomniacz. Clubbers second vote will be for their Future Floor Filler, the young talent they want to give a Manchester debut. Competition is fierce in this category with Frantic resident and recent winner of ‘Best New DJ’ at the Hard Dance Awards Cally Gage squaring up against ‘Slinky resident and tidy new girl’ Kym Ayres, hard trance production whiz kid and Heat resident Technikal plus the man who’s music is putting the funk back into hard dance, Digital Kid. The third and final vote is for an opportunity to hear one of GG’s residents delve into their record crate (a rarity in an age of CDJ’s and Ableton!) to play a classic Trance set upstairs in the Bedroom Boutique. Up for the vote are residents Barry Connell, Shan or Tylor Leigh. The Bar becomes ‘The House Next Door’ featuring the finest in upfront House & Electro led by Goodgreef’s resident house jocks and local leading dj talents. Completing the bill on the night will be a host of established UK DJ’s, international artists and home grown heroes to be announced over the next month. In the six years since its birth Goodgreef’s notorious little yellow head has cropped up all over the UK, blazing a hedonistic trail wherever it has touched down. Nevertheless, as its original home the Manchester crowd create a unique atmosphere, riotous from start to finish.
