Good places to go camping? (within a couple of hours drive)

We're planning a camping mission soon and I think we're off to pooley bridge. I haven't been before but my m8 says it's good there.

When do camp site's open? Are they seasonal like a lot of caravan sites are?

Also, is there anywhere else that's good around here? We're gonna buy a few dinghy's so there needs to be some water :D

We're only going to get pissed all night and blast around in the dinghy's :p It'll probably be freezing but you never know with the weather we've had this week.

Causey arch is decent, they have a rock face climbing wall in the camping area - great fun, but dangerous when drunk

finchale abbey as mentioned is class, i also like chopwell woods for camping being they are scary as fuck, very blair witch.

but if you can arsed for the drive, Northumberland national park  esp if you can set the tent up on one of the little islands in Keilder resevoir

I have a lot of choice now :D

Are all these places OK with young'ns turning up with their loud music and rowdy antics?

The climbing wall sounds like fun, I love climbing! Is it free?

35 feet is massive if it's just a natural rock with no harnesses used or anywhere to clip in . Surely it's not advertised as an actual climbing wall lol. I'd probably boulder it but fuck going to the top :p

Ah right, so there are clips for belaying. Looks like fun for bouldering, but I dunno if I could trust people to stay at a safe height lol.

Is there a website etc for the camp site/area?
