Good PC Games for mid-spec ps'c

Im sleeping at my aunties house this week cos she lives next to my work whichi start at 6am. Her pc is fairly new so I want to give a few games a try since my radeon 9700 packed in aages ago and i havent had a chance to play anything.

I like FPS's the most. Some Strategy and racing games.

    Any ideas?

 Thats what I was thinking.

I have no idea about the spec of the pc but I know it was a high spec one about 5 months ago so it should be capable of playing the games i missed out on when my radeon broke. half life 2 is getting my vote right now since the first game was amazing :)

    Oh yes it does.

If the guy has a 15" monitor then sometimes they can only handle a resoultion of either 8x6 or 10x7.

Some games simply look shit at those resoultions.. and therefore would not give the same gaming experience.. and should really be missed until better equipment is bought :)

Doom 3, Quake 4 and HL2 are prime exmaples.. all three are stunning games.. and a large chunk of the experience of playing them would be lost :)

Depends upon what the mid spec is..
6800's are mid spec these days.. as are 3500+ processors.
    And 1GB is standard..

79xx and 1800s are high spec these days.

Processor wise.. Dual core is high spec.
you can oick up a P4D 805 for less than £100 now!

    I bought a PC last week for £450.. it had a 3Ghz 805.. 1GB DDR2 and a 120GB HDD.. realistically I coulda put a 7900 in there for an extra £100/150..

Cutting edge is definetly fx-60.. and now conroe.
    7950x2s and 2GB DDR 4400/DDr2 8000.

I know what ur saying.. but mid spec can still handle 1280x1024..

My 2800 Barton, 6800GT and 1GB DDR400 still ran Quake 4 and Doom 3 at 1280x1024. The way it was meant to be played *cringes*
