can anyone confirm the existance of these £10 singles between Newcastle and Kings x?

I've been looking for weeks but they never seem to release any.. it costs £55 quid to fly on easyjet now too thanks to GB...

the sooner the government re-award the East Coast contract from these comedians the better..

I can get anywhere on the West Coast for under a £20 return at very short notice, cheapest GNER ticket is £45..

Virgin invested millions on the WCM and you can tell, it's a fantastic service and cheap as chips.. time will tell though, I think the tenders are due in the next few months to replace GNER..

Look about 3-4 weeks in advance, search a return then click 2 singles could be cheaper.

You probably wont get them fro about £10 but you'll get a single for about £15 deffinatly, just depends on the time of travel.

Isn't there a new operator starting soon running from Sunderland to Kings X?

Am sure I heard about it a few months before xmas, meant to be quite a bit cheaper and GNER are fuming, challenging the other company in cxourt or something.

Me and my mates have been checking the Trainline (which is owned by Virgin and uses the same database as GNER websites) for every weekend from now till may 12th, not a sausage, the cheapest tickets are £20 single...

GNER are getting replaced, soon, don't know anything about this sunderland thing though..

Just pay £40 then you tight cunt. A saving of £20 isn't going to make/break a weekend.

What dates you looking at travelling?

I usually check Darlo - Kings cross.

Just done a random search there for Darlo - Kings cross...

    Friday 23rd March

    Leaving Darlo 17:59 Arriving Kings Cross 20:42 = £20

    Saturday 24th March

    Leaving Darlo 11:00 Arriving Kings Cross 13:25 = £11

£31 to london and backs not bad

    I haven't been for a year..

it's cheaper for me Lucy and Paul to hire a car and drive up than it is to get even the cheapest train..

    http://www.grandcentralrail.com/our_service.html

That's the 'low cost operator' from Sunderland that still costs £64 return

How much is the train from Darlo to Newcastle?

Cheapest King X - Newcastle is £25 single as far as I can see... it might just be that no one wants to go to Darlo..

You can usually find cheaper tickets if you go at more awkward times (eg very early or late, or go on Saturday morning and come back on Monday morning, that kind of thing). The cheap tickets for all the good times at weekends seem to go pretty much as soon as the timetables are announced.

bollocks - I book trains newcastle - london all the time and there are quite often £10 tickets to be had if you look hard enough - you might have to travel early saturday morning or late thursday night or something... 6am and 6.25am trains on sat 28th april have cheap tickets available now

it's actually gone up to £11.25 though.

you won't get one on at a decent time on a friday evening though, trust me I've tried... think there must be a bunch of regular commuters who do the journey every week and book the cheap tickets the day they come out or something.

Exactly, there are plenty available if you book around a month in advance - you've just to be flexable as to when you travel. Last weekend I went Newcastle - London - Nottingham - Newcastle for £25 all in. Trains are cheap as chips if you know where to look. Oh and get a railcard if you haven't already.

Agree on Virgin being better though, GNER staff always seem like right cunts.
