He's just been given permission by the FA, not been given the job by the club though.

Fat lad has said "Should we wish to appoint Glenn as our next manager it is nice to know we have the support of our fellow clubs."

Official announcement next Monday. Jumped the gun a bit there Moi!

what do you geordies think of roeder ?

what he has done for you's in the past few month has been outstanding, there is no doubt about that. But in the long term is he the right man?? He started off ok with westham then it all went pete tong!

It's like McClaren getting the England job, you shouldn't make an appointment based on the last couple of months results.

Who do you want for sun'lan'?

tbh i'm not completely sure. People have been saying martin o'neil, but i can't see him returning to football to manage a championship side. other than that george burley or possibly curbs but again i can't see him stepping down a league.

To be fair the bloke's had a brain tumour inbetween that and us, and he's done wonders for the academy :)

He ditched boomwrong as well, so in my book he should get the job

I wouldn't be thrilled with him being appointment but it's decent enough. One thing I think he could really improve is bringing younger players through the ranks - our system is shit and he did a canny job with the youth team so here's hoping.

Unfortunately I think what probably makes Roeder the most likely candidate is that he appears to be alright with the very blatant "Shearer will take over in a year or two" situation so I'm not sure I can see him having long term charge of the club.

Tbh nothing I've seen from Shearer as a captain indicates to me that he would make a particularly good manager.

Thats Crazy woman talk .... it just dont make no sense ....

youd judge what you think of him as a coach by watching him in training coaching the young uns taking first team training sessions and the fact the fa wanted to fast track him into the england set up ... He has huge respect , knows the game inside out and one day will make a good manager just not for a while yet i think ....
