    Getting broadband...

Right finally pulled finger out and decided to sign up to a broadband ISP...Plus.net, but its askin me all these questions i ve not got a clue about... Im with BT btw.

Do i have a ISDN line? I ve only used a 56k modem before so is that a no?

    Telephone Line Requirements
BT can only provide a single BT IPStream service over a single BT (or Calls & Access) PSTN exchange line.
You can only receive a single BT IPStream service over a BT (or Calls & Access) PSTN Exchange line.
You must have a valid contract for the use of a BT analogue Direct Exchange Line forming part of the BT network over which the BT IPStream service will be delivered. If you rent your premises then you must have a valid contract for a BT provided PSTN line. The contract for the BT PSTN must be with you and not your landlord.

    WTF??

    ADSL Availability
PLEASE NOTE! ADSL is NOT universally available, even if you initially qualified for the ADSL, due to the physical characteristics of your telephone line. Even if your premises are within 3.5 km of your ADSL enabled BT telephone exchange (5.5km for ADSL 500kbps products, using RADSL), BT can offer no guarantee that ADSL will work.
    HTF do i know

    anyone any ideas?:D :dunce:

u r a lucky dawg.....here i am sat at work (i do actually o sum!!!) ringing customers to try & sell them broadband!!!

nah ur line ain't isdn atm just a normal pstn connection......

basically as long as u have a bt line that works both ways & the cabling from ur exchange is less than 5.5km (pm me ur home no. & i'll test this 4 u now!!) then u should b able to get broadband

    :D

U must have a bog standard normal BT phoneline to get adsl. If you have ISDN, ull have to get it ripped out.

Secondly do a line check, erm theres one on www.zenadsl.com, you need to be within 5.5miles of an exchange to get adsl. Even if u are within this, you may still be unable to get it due to aluminium lines/long distance routes of cables bla bla.

Finally get zen, nildram or eclipse ADSL, things like freeserve/bt/aol are shite slow
