geeks.. knocked my pc on last nite and i get this.. help.. cheers in adv. (it kinda looks like a yen sign and an o with a horizontal line through it... facking loser hacker cunts.. )
this is becoming a weekly occurence..... i'd say either dodgy memory OR fucked motherboard (possibly dodgy BIOS battery)
2.. im 3 weeks off getting my laptop as well... the battery is a bit nailed.. the clock has been well off recently when its been on..
Re: Re: geeks.. cant see that making any distance ... as soon as PC realises that there is no bootable CD in the drive it looks to the next medium in the boot up list ...
nah its not that as the bios is set to try the cdrom 1st.. then goto the hd.. it worked fine on wed nite when i sent an email!!... i ****** hate pc's.
Re: Re: Re: geeks.. your probably right but its saying the cd rom is failing it doesn't even start booting from the hard drive. Maybe your cd rom is fucked are your cd and hard drive on the same cable?
Re: Re: Re: Re: geeks.. the cd rom is failing as there isnt a cd in the drive (i presume) as soon as it looks to the hard disk it fails, so im guessing hard disk is spannered ...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: geeks.. i thought it goes cd failure, then it would scan for hard drive but it doesn't
its just my hard drive fucked it a couple of weeks ago, and it said disk boot error on mine not cd rom failure.
not 100% sure of the exact prob .. but im guessing every time the pc boots that cd rom error will be displayed as there is no bootable cd in the drive. so im guessing that message is irrelavant to the overall prob ...
i told you to take that shite fooking disk out! AND go down to 1 stick of memory... if the times constantly out, it's defo the BIOS battery... this can cause all sorts of 'unusual' and explainable problems...
Taking a guess.. Looks like its the motherboard.. possibly faulty IDE Channel?? Try unplugging the CD-ROM and then setting the BIOS to run direct from HDD first. If it boots then.. try replacing the CD-ROM unit with another unit.. If that still doesn't do the trick then it may be the CMOS battery.. just go and pick up another one in any electrical store for a very small amount of £s.. If it still doesn't boot then its defo the mainboard. U could try flashing the BIOS to the latest revision.. I don't think it would be a memory problem.. memory problems during the POST procedure generally report errors with a serious of beeps.
