Re: Gabriel & Dresden - Live @ Club Spirit in NYC (07-08-2005) That`s a cool set, i have it too, never mind all that, i thought you were supposed to be in Ibiza right now, you`ve been banging on about Creams Tenth B`day with Tiesto/PVD NuNrg for months now?!?!?
The whole 'ableton live' feel to most of G&D's sets is really doing my head in with them right now - I spend most of my time scrutinising the set for all the obvious loops that drag on for too long, or the layering that sounds naff.... to actually enjoy it. Good tunes on here, but the trainwrecks and ableton-ness really take the shine off.
why would you feel the need to analyse every little thing they do? why dont you just enjoy the actual records themselves?
obviously Ableton'ed tunes rank alongside eddie halliwell doing helicopter cdj tricks and extending adagio for strings into a 15 minute track. Sasha knows how to do it well, but for me the tools being used to create the music shouldnt be poking through the enjoyment of the music. I might be reading too far into it, but the as soon as i can spot obvious effects and techniques in mixes - i lose interest and start analysing.
