G Newcastle United are expected to be asked to join the elite teams in Europe tomorrow - just a couple of days after finishing in their lowest ever placing in the Premiership. For United - and Chelsea - have been invited to attend the meeting of the G-14 teams in Lisbon tomorrow when it is expected they will be asked to join Europe's most prestigious club organisation. There are actually 18 teams in G-14, but the fact that United, Chelsea and eight other clubs have been invited to Portugal tomorrow with a view to increasing that number means that a European Super League is creeping that much closer. Scotland's top two clubs Rangers and Celtic have also been invited to tomorrow's summit, but I understand they are only going to Lisbon in an observing capacity.
