    FYI

Now if youR not a law abiding citizen and you have a dodgey copy of xp you'll probabily be getting pissed off with "This is not a genuine copy of windows" malarky.

First of all it's your own stupid fault for downloading the WGA update in the first place. If you set your updates to auto download but NOT auto install (control panel,Auto updates), you can choose when and what to install. If your using a dodgey copy of XP then any "Windows Genuine Advantage" updates should ring alarm bells and you should select not to install them.

If you download your updates online Select "Custom" on the windows update site and make sure to un-select the update titled "Windows Genuine Advantage Notification (KB905474)"

If on the other hand you have already downloaded the WGA update then you need to read below...

    --------------------------------------------
    Microsoft Windows Genuine Advantage Bypass
    --------------------------------------------

1.) Navigate to "c:documents and settingsall usersapplication datawindows genine advantagedata".
2.) Open the "data.dat" file in notepad, delete everything in there, save and close.
3.) right click on "data.dat" and go to properties. make the file read only.
4.) Download TORRENT and extract LegitCheckControl.dll
    5.) Place .dll in "C:WINDOWSsystem32" and "C:WINDOWSsystem"
    6.) Restart and Enjoy!

This file will allow you to download Microsoft Windows updates without any problem.

After all that another step is to do a registry search for LegitCheckControl and delete all the entries
