    Furniture

Where's the best places (shops or websites) to buy good quality furniture at a decent price?

I've been looking for stuff with my lass and we're having a right 'mare.

It's either ridiculously high priced, or shit low quality stuff. With nothing in between.

    Any suggestions?

It's alright for bits and bobs. But I'm not overly keen on buying EVERYTHING from there.

    Cheers though mate...

your probably best sticking to those local furniture shops, otherwise you'll end up paying a fortune on delivery etc.

Depends what ya after, if its a sofa, bed etc try the tradewarehouse places, these are usually just furniture from the likes of DFS & SCS that have been made then cancelled or returned, so are decent quality.

For the likes of tables, tv stands, wardrobes etc try the trading estates, Team Valley & Portrack lane in Stockton have the best little units with some really nice stuff in.

Ikea, Ilva or Next for your finishing touches - which is Zara's job :p

    Failing that - Ebay!

I've bought loads of stuff from www.myakka.co.uk - Blanket boxes, my desk, chair, side table etc etc.

... its not flat pack furniture, but its hand made in india and its absolutely wicked stuff - totally solid, jointed, rosewood.

... this is where most people would think it costs a bomb - but it doesnt! Compared to the high street your paying probably 50-70% less than it would cost from John Lewis or Fenwicks etc.

Obviously a bit more than ikea for sure, but it depends on what your after. On the flipside, B&Q does some really cheap self assembly stuff that i've done our spare room out in.

ILVA are closing down, going into receivership or something, so it might worth a try, or at least keeping an eye on....
