    Fucking Spyware.

ah yes, its that time of the year again, when i've realised i've made a massive mistake not putting any security on me PC at all, then my idiot younger brother decided to download anyamounts of stupid wank stuff that's full of spyware/malware, which in turn downloaded more automatically.

needless to say, i had to flatten the bastard because so many processes were starting, and in turn - somehow it fucked up my registry and the stupid machine restarts pretty much immediately after i log on - no matter how much i try and restrain the processes through task manager/msconfig startup options.

it was all down to the dreaded "IEXPLORE.EXE" process. what a fucking cunt.

anyways after wiping the whole lot after backing alot of stuff up in safe mode, i realised that i've lost the motherboard drivers for the network card - and a computer without internet is like a dog with no legs - pointless.

its a Asus Mobo, and since i've only got the net at college (thank god) i cant actively download the drivers myself.

this is the first time it's happend with this new system so i'm a bit stuck, is there any chance that if i get the exact model of board - could someone download them for me and send me them in an email? because the stupid administrators at college dont regulate downloads from hotmail attachments strangely.

any help would be much appreciated.

    cheers.

its nearly impossible to remove via a program because it generates new identities in the registry, its a manual removal job - which tbh i'm not 100 percent confident messing with the registry anyway, and it was death to the PC in the end.

apparently, programs like steam are letting daft stuff like this getting in, according to the ludford - bigger nerd than anyone i've met before. he's boycotted the whole system - even tho his lifesource comes from team fortress. the toy.

AND the fact that every cunt is using firefox now, the horrible like gremlins that write this software are focusing around getting past firefox's defenses rather than IE, so at the end of the day it might be better to use the newest version of IE simply because it seems to be so overlooked these days.

and lmao @ unattended lasses on PC's, i left my ex on my PC unattended ages ago and she systematically wiped out all my lovely neatly organised Itunes playlists and the tunes themself's out of the library. she actually still believes that she wiped all of my music off the machine - little does she know.

any chance of you downloading that driver for me then matey? al text you the Mobo model tommora when a find the box for it.

its a piss take when PC security needs to be a lock on your door.

    rant part 2 over.

nah, when i checked the hardware installation thingy there was a few things there that needed drivers. i think it might just be the motherboard specifically the network adapter that needs them, its an Nvidia Network adapter like, but am just gonna try and get the lot for the crack.

i havent really had a shot of bios before - never really had the need. i'll have a deek tonight.

i'm gonna ask the college admin team to block out myspace and the boards actually - i have done fuck all for my dissertation because of them and since i cant fucking download my lovely free version of office cos i'm a sweaty student, i cant do the work at home (at least that's my excuse)

by jove that was a random outburst - my threads are massive today.

you out for a pint the neet anyway anderzz? dont think i can get cheeky half price strongbow anymore tho, they clicked on that i was cashing in on my staff loyalty by getting everyones money in - buying a round and keeping half for my self

    AHA!

fucking sorted the cunt didnt i?!

checked the bios and everything was fine, although the fan on my GFX card was disabled, i wondered why it was heating up so rapidly.

then after stressing out in crystal fashion, i went on a hunt for the disk and found it - underneath my sofa :spangled:

    woosh

Firefox is a waste of time these days if you're main reason for getting it is security related.

    What's this IEXPLORE business then?

Did pre-boot/safe mode scans not help?

PS - what servers do you haunt for cs/tf2?

Well, i've had a search about on the net and havent found much in terms of what it actually is - apart from that it can be anything from a tracking program to one of those programs that leave ports clear for ad's to get through firewalls etc. shamless really.

it's normally found at "C:/windows/system32/IEXPLORE.EXE" however, after deleting this executable, and all the other files related to it - it magically re-appears after a restart, not only that in the registry it re-names its self to a reported 500+ different entries and different extentions within sys32 to hide itself within the system. and strangely it manages to fool XP that it is actually a critical system process so it starts up within safe/diagnostic mode, and in turn when its running in safe mode - it manages to take 80 percent of the CPU usage on my old system.

so no pre-boot/safe mode scan's didnt work - they all crashed about 75 percent through them.

its a real cunt - whoever spent the obv. massive amount of time to write the software needs to be bent over, fucked by Mr T, given 50 lashes with razor wire and left to die in the middle of the sahara.

and - i normally hit the Teeside servers, i'm sure i've got you on my steam list anyway?

Ok... im seriously fucked off now

i followed a guide to fix it.... i had no printer so i took a photo of the screen on my phone, and tried to re-read it with zoom on the fly...

deleted the wrong registry file by accident and fucked my whole windows install.

now due to this cunt, ive gotta reformat and install windows again

    DONT REFORMAT!

get a copy of XP (if it is XP), boot to it, go 'yes' to install it, press the 'f8' EULA screen it'll then detect your previous copy of windows - select repair it. it'll keep your system files/programs/everything where they were.

i tried that, but it didnt have any of it and i got fucked off and flattend the thing. its good in a way cos i've got a authentic copy of XP pro on my machine now isntead of a snide - i fucking hated having windows tell me to stop being a cheap bastard and buy a real copy.

and it also means i can have soundforge back

well i tried the repair with an old copy of winxp...

windows ran, then it did the same fault,

what it does is it kicks onto desktop (almost), then says signing off, and logs back off again. I cant get onto desktop unless in safe mode, puzzler

at least it corrected the registry problem.

now you've just got to clean it from safemode. get the Mcafee Stinger (a crackiong standalone virus killer) from their website. run that.

then, get rootkit revealer AND/OR Hijack this (an older version) - look for any dodgy apps in the start up. clean them.
