FreeView Boxes Am considering investing in one. But have noticed the prices vary from about £30 up to £150+ Other then the actual brand names, does anyone know what the differences are between em all? I thought they all basically did the same thing.....
different software mainly.... some have potical out sockets, etc it all comes down to the software IMO
I wouldn't say so. I got one for £60 at Uni and its just the same as the one that Ive got built into my TV now. Good purchase tho.
mines built into tv and its good, my last also had it built in which never fucked up either. My flatmate bought a cheap one and its always fucking up, i'd say spend as much as you can.
my mates always loses channels randomly off the menus, its always breaking up signal and it aint the aerial, mines running off the same aerial on the roof and the other day it just decided it wasn't gonna pick up anything at all and it still doesn't work. My brothers also just stopped working and his was a cheap one £30 he had his about a year before it did fuck it.
Re: FreeView Boxes The only differences I know of are some have one scart and others have 2. Also some have card slots for top up tv ect. and some dont.
cheaper models contain cheaper components and struggle to pick up new channels when they come about, other than that the only differences have been mentioned, 1 or 2 scart sockets, whether they are top up tv ready or not (top up tv is shit). spend £50+. can get them with hard drives now.
paid £30 for mine and it picks up all the channels (using an indoor aerial!) that my parents one gets that they paid £90 for
Cheers for the info guys. think I'll opt for one around the £50/£60 mark. I looked into the different software and that comes down to things like the tv schedule some at cheap end only offer listings for the day whereas others offer tv listings for the entire week. and some apparently offer the pay to view option on things like films.
