Hey guys, you can talk about what you like, if you want to go to or talk about GC here then feel free.

How does it do these days anyway? I don't think I've been in Republic for nearly a year and I’ve not been to GC since Boxing Day 2000 and I only stayed for 10 mins and didn't like it. No offence to cyber kids but is it still 90% glowstick waving peeps?

I don't want to get in to the whole 'how it used to be debate' but I remember when peeps wore whatever they wanted, sure there was a couple (I mean 2 or 3) peeps in cyber but it wasn't the norm so it looked ok (only my opinion). There would also be peeps in glam, casual and even fancy dress (I’ve seen punters Star Trek & Storm Trooper outfits!) It basically used to look like the crowd you get in Shindig these days but with a few people making an effort to look different.

I suppose nothing stands still including club culture but I just think that last time I went to GC the main room looked a bit silly, it just does not feel inviting to me. I like most of the music they play but it just seems to of lost the whole 'it's not about how you dress' vibe which I thought was an integral part of any dance club.

Maybe I’m just getting old(er), what do you guys think? Would you still go to GC if they banned cyber clothes? Did you go out before peeps wore cyber in clubs? Do you go to other types of events (eg: hip hop, drum n bass, garage) and ware cyber stuff? If not, why not?

    (blimey, who rattled my cage???)

    :)

I know what u mean Rob, the problm with Gatecrasher is there too worried about there image than about the actual clubbing side.
And when u drive down to have a good night clubbing and dont get in because u dont fit there image, it does slightly piss u off...

    lmao@rob

*mental note to self never wear cyber if rob is at promise*

What is so bad about cyber - I just don't get it, what makes cyber any different from glam, fluff, smart, etc. I can understand people getting a bit pissed off about everyone wearing the identical cyberdog outfit - its boring, but then go to shindig/promise and everyone is in the same white collared shirt and evisu jeans!!!

Best example would be the funky house room in promise, what annoys me a tad is half the "fashion concious" funky housers up there will moan about cybers all looking the same, then go and buy identical girly belts, same mohicany styled haircuts, evisu jeans and similar tops....

I think however fashion goes your going to get people dressing the same, be it the funky house kids in the back of promise, the beerboys bouncing around the front of promise, the cyberkids huddled under the stairs... if people see someone they think looks cool they mimic that look.

    What is wrong with this?

What is wrong with a crasher full of cyberkids?

I personally can't wait for cyber to go out of fashion, so once again I will stand out, cyber if wore well is far from offencive - whats the difference between a starship trooper and a starship trouper with lighting flowing round his body and flashing eyes?

I think if your going to moan about all the cyberkids in crasher you have to moan about all the shindiggers wearing evisu....

Only bone I have to pick with crasher is the arrogance... if you don't wear cyber the cyberkids blank you, but if you wear cyber - they're your best friends?!?!!?!?

That's what I mean mate, I see that there is always gonna be fashions be it in clubs or anywhere but the thing I hate is that peeps judge you on what you are wearing.

I also see what you mean about the 'Always' room but I never feel that I don't fit in if I am wearing whatever I feel like. Maybe I dress more like the upstairs peeps (not worn any evisus in a few years now) but I wear the same sort of clothes at home, work or in a club and feel comfortable in them.

The only difference between cyber & glam, fancy dress etc is the frequency you see cyber in trance clubs these days. I am not criticising anyone; I will fight for your right to wear whatever you like even if I don't like, I just don't understand it.

I just think the whole cyber thing is a bit of a 'you're in our gang' kinda deal that is doing trance clubs no end of harm.

Really guys though, don't ever think that I will think badly of you because of what you choose to wear. If I did I would be the same as the 'in crowd' peeps I’m talking about!

im a bit biased towards crasher as i always see crasher as the best club in the world, but i do agree with you about the image thing.

Wen i first started to go to crasher i went cyber and made tons of mates but in the past couple of months i have started to wear normal clothes and fewer people do speak to me but this just shows the people who do speak are far better than those who only spoke to you because you were in cybergear!

i now dress in jeans and a tee or 'funky' as alot of people call it, which is pretty much the norm at sundissential and seems to be the dress code of loads of ex-cybers

crasher does at the moment seem to be stuck in some sort of fashion timewarp compared with other clubs as crasher has the cyber look which is old but still cool whereas sundissential has the fury look and the funky look which are cool

promise though has a big mixture of people wearing woteva they likes and this makes the club far cooler than both crasher and sundiss as it is about the music and the club and not about how u look!:D

    havent i rambled on...

Ahhh the age old cyber debate!

I have noticed over the past few months that cyber is smartening up anyway. All the muppets who just bought a cyberdog outfit cos it was the 'in thing' have now abandoned it cos looking 'funky' is now the in thing. So they have chucked out their uv hair gel & beads and purchased a studded belt & white collared shirt! Now that the bandwagon jumpers have left cyber town we are getting back to cyber that looks good instead of overkill.

I agree with Smart E, thank fcuk cyber is going out of fashion so now we all wont be tarred with the same brush. I dress cyber & I will talk to absolutely anyone who talks to me. I have found though that some trendies often have a worse attitude to cyber than anyone else. *ho hum*

Anyway, i think the free tickets are being dispatched sometime this week.........cya on the dancefloor:D :) :D
