Cheers moi, hopefully this lives up to the standards set by last years Eat Static Valentines party, or maybe even better, who knows.

Aquasky are flying high at the moment with their single 'Girls and Boys' at the top of the breaks charts... I've been trying to get them up for 4 years on and off, so I'm well up for their set:cool2:

I'm suprised there hasn't been more interest from this board to be honest.

Anyone who likes their breakbeat with a bit of a hard edge to it should definitely be there.

ay, he's pretty damn good like... Here's some blurb about Chris & the rest of the Valentines Headliners...

    Aquasky (Passenger)
Now into their 12th year as one of the UK’s most successful and innovative production and DJ combo’s, and with 7 albums already under their belt, Aquasky are on the brink of launching their biggest and most innovative project to date, the Teamplayers Album due for release on 6th March 2006 on their own Passenger label. On team players Aquasky have collaborated with dazzling array of the best UK breaks, hip hop, reggae and alternative dance music talent including Meat Katie, FreQ Nasty and Reece Gilmore, UK Apache, The Drumattic Twins, Kool Keith, The Breakfastaz, Elhornet (Pendulum), Phil Hartnoll from Orbital with his new project Long Range, Backdraft, Tayo, Earl 16, The Autobots feat Teri, Diane Charlemagne, The Ragga Twins, DJ Icey feat Marlon, Crash Berlin, Spyda, Spee (Dreadzone).

‘Girls & Boys’ the first single from this album is currently number 1 in the DJ Mag Breaks Charts, and was voted 3rd best Breaks single of 2005 on Annie Nightingales Radio 1 Show.

Having first established themselves as major players on the drum & bass scene in the mid 90’s, before crossing over to the emerging breaks scene, the array of talent on this album demonstrates the esteem this production trio are held in among the uk breaks scene.

Amazingly this is their first Newcastle show for many years, during which they will be showcasing some of the highlights from the TeamPlayers album.

    DJ Quest (Cyberfunk Records)
DJ Quest is one of the most respected breaks producers and dj’s on the UK circuit, with releases on most of the major breaks labels including Rat Records, Mechanoise, Supercharged, Botchit and Scarper, hardcore beats, cyberfunk, funkatech, wireframe, pulse, sinewave. DJing since 1994, Quest’s production career took off in 1997-98 when his production sound blending the tough drum & bass sound with the tempo of the UK Garage explosion caught the attention of DJ’s like Tayo & Hybrid. Along with producers like Deekline, Stanton Warriors, and Zinc, Quest was one of the producers responsible for taking this emerging genre and turning it into a global phenomenum.

DJ Quest is head of Cyberfunk Records, resident DJ and co-promoter of London’s biweekly ‘Breaks & Mortar’ breaks night, and founder of www.breakbeatworldwide.com one of the worlds leading breaks websites.

Ed 209 (hardcore Beats / Wireframe)
Ed 209 is co-owner of Hardcore Beats, arguably the best new breaks label to hit the scene over the last couple of years, and responsible for pushing the new tougher more rave orientated breaks sound. Ed also runs a 2nd breaks label, Wireframe records. Ed 209’s recent productions have seen remixes from the likes of Ils and Phil Hartnoll.

    Ken Mac
‘MC Ken Mac is the most respected Mc in the breaks scene, his presence is always known in a rave or club, his sense of humour and ability to rock a crowd with out annoying them has been his strong point and he now plays a big part in the underground Breakbeat movement’ ( www.platinumbreaks.co.uk )

Ken Mac is more of a host in the old reggae sound system tradition than a hip hop style MC, with his more laid back crowd hyping style seeing him host many of the biggest breaks nights on the scene including Raindance, Moondance, Breakbeat Connection, as well as recording with the likes of Backdraft, Entity, Sonz of Mecha, Quest, Ed209, Odissi, Breakfastaz and Control Z.

Chris Liberator (Stay Up Forever / Cluster)
A true underground techno legend, Chris Liberator earned his name from the massive squat parties thrown across London under the Liberator Sound System name in the early 90’s, becoming famous for pioneering the London Acid Techno sound. He’s a founder member and co-owner of Stay Up Forever’ label collective, the seminal acid techno label he founded in 1993, as well as Cluster Records which he started in 1995 to push the non 303 based techno sound.

Chris has spent the last decade DJing at massive events around the world, but can still be found most Sunday mornings when he’s in London behind the decks of one squat party or another.

Musically it’s hard to pidgeon hole Chris these days other than to say he plays tough underground techno, or as Chris himself puts it… ‘I like to think I play house music with attitude, which still gives you a big rush when it comes out of a huge sound system! To sum it up in one phrase - filthy, urban dance music.’

Suibom Serum presents ‘Acid House Live’
Suibom Serum aka Paul Smyth first launched his acid house live project at Freaky Dancing in 2004 with a set that almost blew the roof off. With ‘Acid House Live’ Paul basically does what it says on the tin, takes chunks of acid house classics and completely reworks them in a fully live electronic set that can bits and pieces from upto 50 acid house tracks worked into an hours set, all set to a funky as you like deep techy house base.

Suibom Serum runs Newcastle based techno label Testin Out Records, and has also released on Insert Recordings and Adapted Vinyl, as well as being a long term resident at Freaky Dancing.

Paul Smyth has been djing since the early ‘90’s, spending several years as resident in some of Ibiza’s biggest clubs and being voted best Ibiza club resident in 1993.
