Blueprint Records head James Ruskin takes on one half of the legendary Space DJz duo, Ben Long in a head to head battle royale that sees them both pushing Ableton Live to it's limits to loop and rework live the biggest killer techno tracks from the last 20+ years. This is a one off set James and Ben are putting together specially for Freaky Dancing, and should be unlike anything else you'll see this year. *** James Ruskin Blueprint Records founder James Ruskin hits Freaky Dancing ahead of the release of his long awaited 4th studio album ‘The Dash’. James first came to prominence in the mid 90's with numerous releases since then on both Blueprint & the seminal techno label, Tresor. Ben Long Ben Long is a true global techno superstar dj, having headlined pretty much all the major techno clubs and festivals across the world over the last 15 years or so, either individually or with Jamie Bismire as the infamous 4 deck Space DJz experience. Ben's also released countless tracks both individually and as Space DJz, on labels including Billy Nasty's Tortured Records, Potential Recordingz, Ergonomix and ReRub. Suade Suade's one of Newcastle's most respected techno producers and DJ's, gaining worldwide respect for his acclaimed Fastbreeder EP (produced with Paul Smyth), with which he launched his Adapted Vinyl imprint. Suade's DJ'd all over the world since then, including a 2 year stint in Barcelona, before returning to regular Freaky Dancing deck duties in Newcastle last year. Jay Baghri Jay Baghri's a newcastle phenomenum, who's spent the last 10 years churning out top notch music across virtually every genre from drum & bass to trip hop, but he always returns to his first love - techno - with an awesome back catalogue of unreleased tracks. Jay's been known to play 6 hour live sets before now without missing a beat... we figured it was about time we let him loose on the Freaky Dancing dancefloor again. Pete Samplers Pete's a bit of a breakbeat enigma, with tracks released on Downbeat Records in the US and UK, and forthcoming tracks set for release on string of top UK breaks labels on top of his residency in Freaky Dancing's back room. Gemma S Resident at Sunderlands occasional Electrolux parties, Gemma S plays impeccable underground house music. Funsize Jonny Freaky Dancing's resident deck hogger extraordinaire, but we forgive him because he's a mint DJ with an encyclopedic knowledge of rave music. Electrofried Freaky's backroom resident and promoter since day 1, Electrofried Gav's been bringing the breaks to Newcastle since 1997. No slouch in the DJing stakes, he's also played at parties all over the country over the years including sets at Glastonbury & Glade Festivals. *** www.freakydancing.net www.myspace.com/clubfreakydancing www.spacedjz.com www.myspace.com/djbenlong www.myspace.com/jamesruskin2006
ay she's got class taste in house music, and we're giving her a bit of a later set this time to show off her thing... should be on around 11.30pm-1am I think
btw - as a bit of an experiment we are now selling a limited number of advance tickets for this party via dsi <clicky> this will guarantee you entry uptil 2am, which could well be worth doing for anyone wanting to head down later on as with the students getting back we could well be selling out for the next few months... well with the line ups we've got planned we damn well ought to be selling out. all you need to do is pay online at dsi then show up on the night with the card you bought the ticket with for ID (you don't get a physical ticket, we just get a list of the details of everyone who's bought them).
think we're hopefully going to be starting to get Steppy's to run minibuses to our cosmic ballroom events from sunderland and durham, starting with this one... details to follow
Tomorrow night... looks set to be a busy one with the students now back in force, plus our new 4am finishing time. we're not now doing the coaches for this one as it was a bit late to get it sorted, but will hopefully be sorting it out for the Uni & the Cosmic at the end of October. We'll be partying early doors in Camp David tomorrow night for Gemma S's birthday if anyone's looking for somewhere to warm things up.
