Paul’s DJ career started at the age of 16 playing Deep Chicago Acid alongside The Hitman Crew in 1988, before landing in Manchester where he inevitably converted to techno playing on Manchesters infamous early ‘90’s rave & warehouse party circuit. 1995 saw Paul land a residency in Ibiza’s Zenith club for the summer before he finally settled in Newcastle where residencies at VIVA, Chunes & Fastbreeder rapidly followed. Paul then set up his first label Lunar Records, which led to a French tour, later working with Suade to set up Adapted Vinyl, and collaborating with Suade as Fastbreeder to release 3 acclaimed EP’s. Paul then launched Insert Recordings to release the harder, dirtier side of his music, with the first release under his Bies moniker (joint with Stu Wright), followed by his first Suibom Serum release in INS 2. This release then led to an EP on Vince Watsons ‘Bio’ label, as Paul Smyth (BIO 6). Paul is also part of Tokyo Acid Cru, who regular Freaky Dancers will be well aware of by now, & last year launched Testin Out Records as a new outlet for local techno talent. www.myspace.com/suibomserum Elastik Trickery Mick Hedley & Tim Clarke have been producing and playing killer live techno sets in Newcastle for over a decade, with regular headline sets at pretty much all the major techno nights Newcastle’s hosted since the mid 90’s alongside a fair few warehouse party’s and the like. They’ve released on Insert Recordings & are currently signed to Testin Out Records. www.myspace.com/elastiktrickery CYLON Cylon is the solo project of Steve Leggit, one half of Artwhore, Leggit & Burroughs and not forgetting his other solo project Gamma. This is Steve’s first solo outing at Freaky Dancing following on from his Artwhore set earlier this year. www.myspace.com/gammalegget DubTerrorist Wildy AKA The Dubterrorist has been terrorizing dancefloors with his bass heavy techno sound for years as a DJ and occasional live act, when not punking it up as part of The Pirates of Punk (AKA The Hardest Band In The World). DJ Wow DJ Wow aka Dahna, reckons she’ll out do DJ Murphy on the decks… CO-LAB RECORDS Co-lab records is a new local electro / electronica label from The Guessmen, who are busy rounding up and showcasing local leftfield electronic music talent with a bit of a twist to it. THE GUESSMEN Diesel U Music award winners for their debut album a couple of years ago, The Guessmen have also released several EP’s on Tummy Touch Records as well as bilm soundtracks & a long awaited 2nd album set to be released imminently on their own Co-Lab record label. www.myspace.com/guessmen MIKE PLUS We don’t really know anything about MIKE PLUS other than that The Guessmen really rate him, and have signed him to their label, which is good enough for us. FRATELLI DI RIMINI The driving force and resident DJ behind the Road 2 Rimini nights at The Star & Shadow Cinema we’ve been hearing good things about. --- Next UP Freaky Dancing @ The Cosmic Ballroom : Friday 31st August IGNITION TECHNITION DARKMODE CHRIS SHARP ELECTROFRIED FUNSIZE JONNY £8 b4 11pm / £8 nus / £10 after 11pm Freaky Dancing @ The Cosmic Ballroom : Friday 28th September Ben Long vs James Ruskin [back to back ableton live classics set] Freaky Dancing vs Detox Autumn Ball : Saturday 6th October @ Newcastle University Union Line Up tbc --- www.freakydancing.net www.myspace.com/clubfreakydancing
