Fresh from blowing away the 2 millionish people at the Berlin Love Parade, and the 5000 capacity Antiworld in London last weekend, DJ Murphy brings his unique blend of DMC style turntablism and 3 deck techno mixing to Freaky Dancing for only his 2nd ever UK gig, and only date outside of London. For the cynics out there, here’s a few quotes from some of the most respected DJ’s on the scene about DJ Murphy… Lab 4 after seeing DJ Murphy at the Antiworld last weekend…(www.lab4.com) ‘We had the pleasure of not only being completely blown away Brazil's finest mixing wizardry - but of also meeting with DJ Murphy - who can only be described as "Jimmy Hendrix on turntables" - there is no-one on the UK scene (that we have seen anayway) who can continue mixing whilst flipping the actual turntables on their side... Oh, and did we mention - MIX WITH THEIR FEET???... Let's just leave it at that for now, but be sure to jot this name down, because we guarantee you will be seeing more of DJ Murphy on line-ups around the UK traps..’ Chris Liebing (www.EnergyUk.net) ‘He can Teach most of us how to DJ’ Ben Long (Space DJz) (www.harderfaster.net) ‘When I saw Murphy playing yesterday I thought I should retire myself, go back to school, play with my mixer in my room again’ Links www.djmurphy.net (Several live sets and tunes to download at) www.definition-records.de Dj Murphy interview on HarderFaster.net DJ Murphy live at Summer of Love, video clip Dj Murphy jimi hendrixing his turntable at The Berlin Love Parade Andrew Waters celebrates his first vinyl release on his own Band-X label with a full live set, after several properly good live sets at Freaky over the last couple of years. Warm up duties are in the ultra safe party rocking hands of orginal Freaky Dancing resident Chris Sharpe, while the backroom breaks session will be hosted by the ever dependable trio of Electrofried, Pete Samplers and Gareth Hocking (please note funsize jonny is awol somewhere on the Norfolk Broads & won’t be playing) --- Please join us for the official freaky dancing warm up at Camp David with the lovely and highly talented Gemma S taking the helm + more tbc from 8.30pm-12am.
cheers richie, I'd sussed what you meant and I might well need the legendary piece of techno for murphy to do 3 wood mixing on if it's available
the wood is there if you want it, the legendary wood for murphy on the 3 decks wood wood give me a shout if you do need the wood
sound, still trying to find out if he's wanting 3 or 4 decks, so whether to put him on the stage or dj booth... will probably work it out with minutes to spare
gav how did it work with the stage last time? ok? our next guests might being doing a semi live thing and for 2 people that box is a bit cramped.....
I'll now be playing in place of Funsize Jonathon who's off sailing round the Norfolk Broads looking for the rave. Doubt he'll find it but I wonder if he'll shit himself again!
full details now added above with some additional links to more video clips and dj murphy's website where there's a few sets and tunes to download. Reports coming up from hi London gig last weekend are that he's properly off the scale, with adam from Lab 4 telling my mate Stu that Murphy's set was the most exciting Dj set he'd seen since Jeff Mills in 1994 hope a fair few of you can make it down to give Murphy the reception he deserves
Didn't make it downstairs as I was rough as fuck and left not long after I finshed but really enjoyed playing upstairs.
