formula sound mixers.... ...anyone had the pleasure of using one of these? We've got one at the place where I DJ and it's the biggest piece of shit ever. Poorly built, bad design... so bad that I swapped it with my old numark one and thats working far better! Are all of their mixers like this? I'd be interested to know what some of the town DJs make of the one that used to be in digital - that seemed to be taken out fairly quickly....
ive used a few - too big and bulky and far too expensive imo good connectivity out the back though not for the faint hearted, but not designed to be played with - more like a work horse mixer brand
We used them in a club I worked at (The Republic). Built like brick poop houses but not overly DJ friendly. The ones we used had built in limiters that stopped the DJs blowing up the system by making it almost impossible to clip the signal in the mixer, I think they were PM90s.
We've got a PM90, but it's seen far better days.... This one has no built in limiter, 3 of the channels are broken (replacement modules aren't available any more so our joke of a sound bloke has soldered the channels together to make them produce sound in mono...), and all of the pots make horrible crackling sounds when you twist them, even after I've had the top off and used two cans of compressed air to clean it out!
they had one in digital when it first opened.......nice sound comes out of it but prefer an A&H 92 or a DJM1000 any day of the week.
A&H are my fav, lovely and smooth faders and eq and the sound out of them is also lovely and warm (I think pioneer's can sound a bit tinny).
