Flashpoint Records Xmas Newsletter Something’s are a certainty this time of year. Lots of money is spent on pretty much everyone else but yourself, the weather is terrible, houses get attacked by extremely tacky decorations and crap bands sing really bad covers to attempt to be number one in the charts by the 25th, but one thing that’s been an assurance all year round is the quality of releases put out by quite easily one of the best hard NRG labels in the market! Yes, that’s right it’s time for the Flashpoint Records December newsletter, and once again we have a great double header release to talk about as well as a brand spanking new digital track and some extremely hot up front news, want to find out more? Then read on ;-) Flashpoint 23 – Gary Cooke & Frank Farrell – Etherwave This pretty much sums up how the scene is going at the moment, and all for the right reasons. Long gone are the days where NRG had to be white-knuckle face melting material, the sound of now still has that gristle that we all know and love but also has a fun element to it. Frank Farrell has been one of the stars of the scene for 2006 and now he’s teamed up with a future starlet of the production world, Gary Cooke, Etherwave really caps of the year in style for the both of them. The party factor goes through the roof from the bassline of this tasty number, the sexy shoulder rolling groove bares a resemblance to “Panik”, one of the late great RR Fierce’s biggest tracks…the rest of the record is no exception either. The choppy vocal stabs and cool grueling synth makes it a roller coaster of a ride from start to finish with Hoover’s as sharp as a Jimmy Carr’s whit to cap off a powerful release. Marc Johnson & Dynamic Intervention – Step Forward Marc Johnson has had an incredible year, with it brought the turbulent ride the hard house industry has had with the slump in vinyl sales but its records like this that give you reasons to still by 12 inch’s of wax. Marc has once again proved he’s at the top of his game and for a Christmas present to all has partnered up with a man that needs to introduction. Mik Cree, a.k.a Dynamic Intervention, has pushed boundaries of the scene since he first made his name in it many years ago and has given the trade some of the most memorable tracks to date, there was only ever going to be one outcome of this animal! While the A-side takes the more up beat part of the vinyl, “Step Forward” brings the heads down 4am sound to the release with all the typical Dynamic Intervention sounds and synths, keeping the breakdown to a minimal but more erratically driven than a pissed up chav doing laps around Silverstone. Great track, another great release an even better year for Flashpoint. Wanna be ahead of the game?
