yeh dont worry... i cant master for shit at the moment, aint got the hardware, might be gettin a hand to do it properly tho..my monitor speakers arent up to scratch to get EQ and frequencies right.
I've been using my headphones for mastering Fizz, I find it alot easier although it takes a bit longer.
you cant really use yer headphones for mastering bud, totally different sound in the cups than on any other speaker system. hiFi sounds different to headphone cos they exaggerate the bass and treble (eg. Max Bass options on hifi's), also it will sound totally different in a club. Its all about balancing the frequencies not about how loud each element it is...and trying to do that on hifi speakers/club speakers or my shitty surround sound speakers just isnt the way. you need pro monitor speakers and even then yer ear has to be tuned to get all this balancing right...or else the track will just sound different whether you take it to someones house party or in liquid. example : the bass sounds beefy on my system, (because ive a got a sub with me surround system)...now my mate Simonz in london listened to it on his 'better system' and said the bass sounds like its farting... its a long process and i just wish i had the hardware....
Head phone are wicked for getting you percussion spot on, but when you need to really need to feel the flow of the the track they let you down. You cant hear the the drop of your basses and kick well, nothing beats a chosty set of monitors
