First Decks? This has probably been asked loads but i need to know. I want my first set of decks was just wondering what everyone wud recommend buying, i dont want a beginners package that ill just have to get rid of when i get decent on them. I want a decent set now what wud people recommend? cheers
its kinda good to learn to mix on shit decks, cos then when u get on technics, you will be amazing. cos they are much better. but u will end up spending more £££. just buy some technics. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2553665475&category=4785
yeh thats what i was thinking there doesnt seem to be much point in buying sum cheap ones just to sell them for less next year when i could just buy technics now, cheers
Or try Ad-mag or something like that! I agree with Revel you are better going from shit to good decks but it costs more in the long run..! You can always sell Technics on and not loose very much at all (if any)..
yeh ill probably make my decision by the end of the weak, but if i was to buy good ones do numark or vestax come close to technics?
i had the 1st numark 'pro' one's, think they're called tt-1 or something, an the platter on them was stronger than technics, an they seemed jus as sturdy (had a few pint's spilt on em an took a few knocks too) in reality i'd jus try an get some technics tho... vestax are supposed to be jus as good if not better, but i haven't liked the feel of them when i've had a play on them... it's all personal really tho mate, jus go an have a play on a few diff types, an see which you like best...
ok ill have a bash not that ill know much about them at all, i was goin to buy some numark tt200 decks they seemed good for my first decks but the guy at global dj said that if i was ever wanting to get anywhere djing id have to get technics because almost every club uses them. Is their really that much differance im sure a good dj can play on anything or was he just tryin to get a good sale?
get direct drive whatever you do, but apart from that its more personal preference, if you wanna try an go into playing in clubs then technics are probs your best bet... i've jus got some this summer an i really em to bits!
Go to Global and ask to demo a few different types of deck, they should be fine with this, when u find a pair that u are comfortable with, but them from Sapphires, they're much cheaper
yeah, buy dj mag, an ring round a few in the back of there an make them price match each other, you get the best deal an its quite fun when you get the price really low, peeps have to go off an ask their mangager an stuff, then you tell them you can get the dex cheaper elsewhere an they sound really gutted! but if stuff goes wrong then u've gotta sent em back, my mixer's been away for a week now an still no word about when it's coming back
cheers, ill probably just save up and get sum technics1201s from new, so if anything goes wrong i can take them back
always haggle them down too! i just got a cdj100 for £227.50 ahen it was suppossed to be £260, which isn't an emourmous saving but i was quite pleased!just say someone else quoted you lower!
other than the fact that technics are in most clubs, are they any better than numark and vestax, just been reading about them and some people seem dissapointed with the 1210 mk5 cos of its low torque etc and the price.
i was playing on some mk5s last weekend in a club and i didnt notice a huge amount of difference in the torque (although i didn't use them much and played lots of cds), but the whole massive pitch range thing just seemed totally fucking pointless!!why oh why would you want to play a tune at +16???? get the mk3s cos at least their no click at 0 has a purpose!!!most clubs just have mk2s in though!!
yeh to be honest lookin at the numark ttx-1 and the vestax PDX2000 i think they look and goin off sites perform alot better than the technics, but im just put off by the fact that every club almost uses technics and they are meant to be very tempermental compared to other brands, so id like to get used to them straight away.
get technics! i didn't an got some this summer, an that, coupled wi the fact i haven't really had chance to go on em all summer has meant that i found it quite hard to mix on them for a while... still have the odd fukk up cos i forget bout the torque now, but thats jus probs cos i'm shite
I used to have some Soundlab DLP1600's or summit for me first decks and a mixer off someone on here - the mixer was alot better than the decks and in the end i flogged them all and got a set from Global DJ Centre in town - that consisted of 2 Gemini XL 500's and a Gemini Mixer, i sold the mixer even tho i hadnt had it long and bought one off me mate ! I then one day seen a well decent cheap Vestax mixer on Ebay so bought that and whilst looking at some works site seen that some Technics 1200's were cheap so borrowed some ££ off a mate and bought them ! I think i sold the Gemini's to a mate of mine with the better mixer and gave that money towards what i borrowed :spangled: Since then i have bought 2 monitor speakers in me room and balanced them on stands and also have me 170watt HI FI speakers on stands which i dont use I can safely say that i am more than happy with my setup now
