Firewalls Is anyone clued up with Norton internet security 2005? Ever since i got it i cant send/recieve things via MSN and was wondering if there was anything i could do to norton to allow this. Switching all the settings down to off doesnt work either
U mean even if u turn firewall off u still cant send/receive? Thats strange.. If that aint wot u mean tho try just goin into the settings for firewall. Locate msn messenger in the "programs" part - set it to allow connections.. Shud have created rules automatically for msn tho - usually does.
Double click the tray icon to load the main program Click Personal Firewall Click configure Look in "programs" tab. U cud set specific port range open in ur firewall as well....6000-6999 i think for msn transfers....not sure tho cant remember!
Atho if u cant do it still even when firewall is switched off....thats prob not a NIS issue...... Maybe u have the windows firewall enabled too?
just means it automatically configures access - msn is a "trusted" application so it allows access when needed...hmmmmm.. u sure the windows firewall aint on as well? u use a router at all?
Goto Control Panel Goto Network Connections U shud see a little "lock" like icon on the connection if windows firewall is active
Aye there is two pics of moniters, one for connection & one for local area connection... both have padlocks above them. What is a router?
right click on em and goto properties. goto advanced and disable windows firewall. router is summit u use to connect to internet/share connections between machines etc. u wud prob know if u had one - do u just have a cable modem? adsl modem? set top box?
