    Firefox tweak

    Quote:
If you're using Mozilla Firefox, here's a little tweak that will help speed up the time it takes to load web pages for broadband users:

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

    network.http.pipelining
    network.http.proxy.pipelining
    network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

    2. Alter the entries as follows:

    Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

    Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

    3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

    (Double click to change values..........)

    Also:

    network.http.max-connections: 48

    network.http.max-connections-per-server: 24

    network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy: 12

    network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server: 6

    :D

Slight problem with network.http.pipelining.maxrequests: 30 - you might get suspected of doing a flood attack. If you find yourself getting banned from any servers, lower that to 10. :)

May as well put this up for the Firefox newbies who haven't discovered them yet: Firefox Extensions - https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/?application=firefox

    Dodgy's Top 5: :cool2:

Thumbs 0.4.1 - highlight a bunch of links, click the thumb button (which you can add to your customisable toolbar ;) ), and a new page loads showing the first thumbnail from each. Useful when browsing, erm, porn.

Smiley Xtra 3.0 - 300-odd smilies to easily add into posts [IMG]

Image Zoom 0.1.7 - adds zoom functionality for images, handy for, erm, porn.

Bandwidth Tester 0.4.1 - like Ronseal.

downTHEMall 0.9.4 - easy to download all image links off a page, and all movie clips, etc. Very useful tool for, erm, porn.

Firefox - the seasoned wanker's choice  :D

Your right actually yeah - Firefox loads noticably slower than IE....BUT..........maybe thats cos IE is actually part of Windows...I would have thought so anyway.

Firefox loads up instantly still on Linux   :p

    Make that switch!!!!!!!!!
