Firefox - The future... I currently use firefox and IE (for certain sites/games that dont work too well in FF). Mainly firefox though, anyway as the popularity of FF continues to grow wont it eventually suffer the problems IE has. Spyware will be designed for FF browsers etc. Hackers will find holes in the software and continual patching will be needed. Much can be said about Linux, if everyone did convert to Linux surely script kiddies would start playing with the various toys released onto the net to hack Linux boxes. More Linux virus' would be released etc? Just a thought
firefox is faster than IE in my experience but the amount of websites that don't look right or function correctly with it is far too high imo. if you know how to use the internet responsibly you shouldn't end up with countless IE spyware addons in the first place linux is so incompatiable with everything anyways, i couldnt use cubase, my soundcard or my midi interface with anything other than windows. if other software want's to challenge MS/Mac, they need to make it far more compatiable and user friendly imo.
at the end of the day, a program is only as good as the programmer who wrote it. which is why there are so many holes, problems, reliability issues etc but i do agree about the popularity thing, something better will come out though, and as long as you keep up to date with whats happening you should be alright. boycott microsoft though, they are *****. i would rather have some small reliability issues than gaping holes, innacuracies, un friendly way of working, endless sets of rules in the registry which are mighty confusing/conflicting.
There was a feature in the Express the other day about Blake Ross, the guy who's created Firefox. Saying they're bringing out a Mozilla Phoenix program which is meant to be awesome.
Mebbe they recycling the name? DUnno - but still, any other releases will be top notch! Thunderbird as well for mail/news instead of Outlook
